I have a customer's Remington 700 police (I think) in 300 Win Mag that he bought a few years ago and never took it out of the box. Just recently, he decided it was time to get it set up. I got base/rings and a lupy vx-3 and installed it. Last weekend, we took it out to fire it for the first time. We loaded it with Remington factory 180gr. cor lokt, and I fired it. Fired fine, didnt kick as much as mine with the reload Im runnin, went to open the bolt. Pulled handle up, felt fine, went to extract it, couldnt get the shell to come out. Took a clearing rod and tapped it out. Primer looked fine, no signs of overpressure. The only thing was, there is a ring about .050" in front of the belt with vertical scratches moving up the body of the case. Anyone had this happen with a brand new Remmy with Remmy ammo? I need to call the factory. To me, this should be covered under some kind of warranty right?
Thanks.

...as long as the ring isn't bulging it's probably just the chamber edge and the vertical scrathes are pretty normal from the feed lips/ramps/extraction/the follower/etc...did you inspect the extractor for proper functioning, or if the chamber is "sticky" on extraction may just need a little extra polishing that didn't get done fully at the factory. It could be either of those or a couple other things, do a little checking/inspecting before you bother sending it back....good luck...

My buddy had the EXACT same thing happen to his brand new 5R 300wm. He sent it back to Remington but all they did was send it to some crap gunsmith and he rereamed the chamber which in my opinion screwed it up. There were metal shavings all in the bolt and reloads were running much slower. I would send it to a GOOD smith and have him polish the chamber as mentioned above. This has happened to a ton of there 300wm's from what I understand.
