I resized and loaded some snap caps out of a stack of Remington brass I had for my .308. I used Sierra 150 HPBT pressed to the same COAL as the normal 175s I use. They are shallow but they hold enough for a snap cap. COAL is 2.806 +/- .002. No failures to extract, tight chamber or any other problems than this:

In a magazine of 10 rounds where #1 is the first extracted from the magazine, I have failures to feed from the magazine for rounds 2-4 and then fine again for the rest of the magazine. Both AI 10 round mags I have are the same. The 5 round mag from McRees does not have this problem. The cartridge is clearly tip-down and not feeding onto the ramp. I loaded a total of 25 cartridges so I could also practice magazine loads so all 25 have been loaded in each of my 3 mags, all with the same effect.

To fix I just reach in and press the base of cartridge till it clicks and then it feeds fine. I have to do it for all 3 rounds. When I load the magazine I tried doing an extra little press on the base of each round to keep it nose up as I loaded it but this had no effect. Magazine is seated properly.

I have not experienced this with live ammo. I have been using LC07 for my live reloads.

R700 5R on McRees G5 folding chassis. No work done to the action or barrel. Everything is clean and lubricated.

Any suggestions?

This may or may not help but here ya go: Take the mag out, look under into the mag well with the bolt back, (if this has happened a bunch of times like it did with me) you'll see a shiny spot on the bottom of the receiver where the bullets are hitting the receiver when trying to lock the mag in. I really had to practice putting the magazine straight up and in marking sure the first round and all proceeding cartigages are all the way back in the magazine.
Easy way to fix it? Break out the dremel. Looks ugly but works.

Hope this helps.
