What did we lean from that thread?
No box, red flag. Ya, simple logic.
No “NF” logo in the throw lever?
Obviously that serial number was used more than once on fakes.
I’m going to start asking for the serial number and call NF.

One of my son's friends offered him a smokin' price on some "factory seconds" (threading on the bell was wrong thread pitch for their sunshade

He bought 20 of em ($8000?) and was selling off what he didn't need.
I figured scam and told son to get serial numbers
They were all the same
I called Nightforce to let em know and the guy answering the phone was not surprised, said they were hearing of more cases

He's talking about the font being incorrect.
Yes there are knock off Nightforce optics available from AliExpress. Have been around for awhile. The best part is, the guys selling them via AliExpress never claim they are real or for real guns. It's sellers stateside that take advantage of you usually.
Not optic related - but I had to replace the recoil assembly on a 455 Husquvarna chain saw - years of hard use . I couldn’t find the factory replacement assembly with cover - with the 455 Husquvarna sticker on it , so I bought an aftermarket one just to keep the saw running while I’m cutting fence rows - need about 15-20 face cord a year to burn .
The “knock off “ assembly came and I was surprised at the quality of it , not cheap plastic rope even looked identical. When I took the factory assembly off and compared it to the knock off - they both have the same sticker inside- Hunan China , then some Chinese characters and Factoy 5404 . Same exact thing made in same factory - one with the sticker if in stock was like $60, “knock off “ which is identical every way - $15.

AliExpress is still guilty as fuck. Ripping off IP and trademarks from production to distribution is bold faced theft.

That sucks, but caveat emptor when you find a 'hell of a deal'. In the era of the internet, everyone knows what they have and want top dollar. Exceptions should be scrutinized.

If the knockoff NF is anywhere near the same level of quality as knock off Chinese Stihl clones……
I know this is just sarcasm, but even the clone market exhausts all avenues to obtain the original or a per-spec built by the original manufacturer until resorting to a 3rd party copy.

My mom and her husband owned a company that made boat parts. One day a chink calls and wants to buy one of everything in their catalog. They refuse. Six months later chink fake crap starts arriving. People buy it to save money. The chinks made a hatch that people stepped on and it collapsed. Cutting the shit out of their legs. They then called pissed and wanted refunds. They always refused.

A detailed review of the fake by a knowledgeable person would be interesting. I’d really like to see it taken apart and measured to see if it’s actually a clone or just a look a like.
Well, the only NF I own I got when a relative worked there. I know that one is legit. I guess being a poor I can’t afford to buy “too good to be true” kind of prices. There are big stores that sell legit, Amazon isn’t one of those.
