Just wanted to throw some quick results up after a range day out to 400 yards. Not meant to be scientific, just a few quick observations.
Conditions: 45 Degrees, No mirage, Mostly Cloudy, Mid-day
Falcon Menace 4-14 FFP mil/mil
200 yards: Able resolve .308 holes on paper
300 Yards: Some difficulty resolving hits but possible.
400 Yards: Could not resolve hits on paper (shoot-n-see easily)
Tracking: Repeatable between 100 and 400 yards with dialing range back and forth multiple times. When zeroing, clicks followed reticle milling estimate with no issues. Mil measurements matched through powerband. 400 yard dope from iphone matched click values of scope. I have single set-screw knobs and while repeatable, there is some "play" between clicks but the feel is still acceptable. Will be getting triple set screw knobs and from what I have heard it is night and day.
Bushnell FLP 15-45x60 Spotter : Mil-Dot
- No issues with water / spots / black specks
- Power adjustment was firm but no issues
- Focus was effective at all ranges. Able to focus on 25 meter target stand (did not try closer). Number of turns between minimum and maximum range seemed to be on the large side.
- Reticle measurements remained constant throughout the powerband.
-Included tripod was on the cheaper side, but far too tall for bench or prone shooting. Perfect size if seated, but I will be replacing ASAP for something lower and more stable.
- Soft cover is a nice feature. Simple and effective.
- Able to Resolve hits on Shoot-n-see and paper targets at the 400 yards line. Hits on plain paper past 400 yards would likely be difficult, but I was unable to test.
- No issues with eye relief on all powers. I do not wear glasses.
While I had a relatively low budget, I am very pleased with both of these optics. I have had no issues and would definitely recommend them to other shooters considering optics in that price range depending on the desired features. This package combined with an Remington SPS Tactical, restocked with a B&C Light Tactical Stock gets me .75 MOA or better with 168 or 175 grain factory loads. Only problem I foresee is while I got into this on a budget... I have started down an expensive road... next step : Reloading..
