Has anyone here had any experience with Falcon optics? I'm looking for a new scope for my trainer and I was originally planning on going with the SWFA Super Sniper 16x42, but I ran across the Falcon Menace series today and was considering getting the 5-25x50 seen here...

I googled some reviews, but all were pretty middle of the road, so I wanted o get some input from you fine folks.

EDIT: also, if you know the specs, like avail. MOA travel and what not, that would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance, Taylor

Re: Falcon Optics, what's your take?

Im interested in this as well.
Im torn between a Falcon Menace 5-25x50mm or a Vortex Viper
6.5-20x50mm

I read some reviews, and they said the falcon had the edge on "technology" i.e. better features, but quality was better on the vortex. Now some of the turret issues falcon had have been resolved. Still not sure on what to get tho.
Mine will be used for a target/hunting scope

My Falcon 4-14 was horrible for hunting around dusk and dawn. Low light performance was marginal at best. My shooting partner's 5-25 is worse.

Use this:

Sniper's Hide Search Engine

LOTS of info on this site about these scopes.

For the price they can't be beat.
I would recommend the 4-14x over the 5-25x.
Though they are great bang for buck you can't have too high expectations in regards to eye relief and brightness. The 4-14 will not accentuate the shortcomings as much as the 5-25x.

Re: Falcon Optics, what's your take?

Also Quick question.
I have a rem 700 SPS-V.
I was looking at the 50mm lens, i have a 0moa EGW Base, and Burris XTR Rings, will this give me the clearance i need? Not entirely sure how to do measurements at the moment.

Re: Falcon Optics, what's your take?

I have the 4-14 and I've had (and will again) SS16X's.

The SS16X has way more adjustment range and a longer track record of solid performance, and can focus down to <30'

The ONLY reason I got the Falcon is becasue it was a friends and I knew this particular one tracked correctly and I got to play with it before getting a good deal on it.
I couldn't bring myself to purchase one blindly with their spotty history.

Re: Falcon Optics, what's your take?

I own both the SWFA and Falcon and SWFA does win in the low light capabilities but I wouldn't call it horrible. Overall I prefer the Falcon cause it is variable power and tracks better(SWFA has mushier clicks). Better bang for the buck, but for hunting and you keep it under 500 yards and hunt in low light then the SWFA might be for you but the Falcon has the bells and whistles the SWFA doesn't. Like I said the low light capabilities of the Falcon isn't better than SWFA but not much much worse either.
