Making bad guys nervous
Fallen buddy was a K9 Cop for Minco City Hall/Minco Police Department

Mycal Prince was in my platoon in Iraq and then went back to the line for our deployment to Afghanistan this past year. He was survived by his wife and two daughters.
His department is selling his dog and told his wife they could have him, if they were the highest bid in a sealed envelope auction.

Local news stations are being contacted tomorrow, a call or email showing support for his wife and family would be appreciated.

P.O. Box 512
Minco, OK 73059
405.352.4274 office (non emergency)

Mayor Keith McMullen 405.352.4771 home [email protected]
Vice-Mayor Shirley Oaks 405.352.4746 home
Chief of Police Phil Blevins [email protected]

Thanks for the help guys.

Re: Fallen soldier familiy needs a little help

That's REALLY messed up. Even in the biggest equipment re-using department of the government (Marine Corps), dogs are given to the family most of the time; Even if the dog is young and in good shape still.

If they are disposing the dog anyway, they should have the respect of transferring him over to the family.

I'm in. I'll email them and also add the memorial page on Facebook. If they won't change their minds perhaps we can help pitch in some funds to the family and not let them be outbid easily.

Re: Fallen soldier familiy needs a little help

I was doing a bit of digging around to find more info about this. Turns out the dog is going home to his wife and kids. The city was following the rules of what they had to do with city property for legal release of property. While the family does have to place a bid they do not need to be the highest bid as the city allows for bid acceptance or denial based on several factors. Glad to know that the dog will end up where it belongs.

Thanks for posting Victory.

Yeah that isn't what they explained to Mycals wife, but is what is being said after a couple of hours of emails, phone calls, and a chat with the mayor.

Mission accomplished. Thanks for all of you that sent something or called.

I know it would mean a lot to Mycal.

Re: Fallen soldier familiy needs a little help

I was about to be pretty fired up. My BIL goes to church with the police chief and I was about to make phone call or two.

Glad it is working out.

Yeah definitely. I'll drive the heck out there and stop by City Hall. I go through Minco pretty regularly.
