Is there much (if any) difference in longer range accuracy between fast attach models and those that thread directly to the barrels?

In considering my future suppressor purchase for my bolt gun, I do want that versatility of being able to put a can on a gas gun or other .30 caliber rifles if they ever happen, but I ultimately don't want accuracy to suffer.

I mention this b/c it seems that my 16" Noveske suffers accuracy with my AAC M4-2000 can. Not just zero shift, but the groups open up. I admittedly haven't shot a ton with it, but it was noticeable. It could just be me or a problem with the way I mounted the muzzle brake adapter.

But I'd like to know what the people who shoot a ton with them have to say about it.

Re: Fast Attach v Threaded

pros and cons to both. I own one of each.
QD - 30 cal can
Pro - Reliable POI shift
Con - longer

thread on 556 cal
Pro - really compact
Con - takes longer to put on/off When it is hot (after a few rounds) it takes a welding glove to handle it. The qd does also, but only has to be in your hand for a second.

Lots to think about huh?

Re: Fast Attach v Threaded

Having a direct thread is the go to attachment for accuracy and not near the hindrance many folks would like to lead you to beleive...How often are normal folks going to need to detach or attach quickly anyway? Many companies advertise their new low weight cans but the heavy brake can eat into the difference between a Ti can and a SS can pretty quickly. Just things to chew on, not trying to spread hate against QD just trying to give threaded the credit its due...

Re: Fast Attach v Threaded

Agreed that fast attach really isn't a life or death matter for most, including me.

The main deal for me is considering the event that I ever get a gas gun that may want to shoot .308 and the question of whether or not threaded would really be the best option for both. I prefer not to buy twice ;(

But sounds like threaded may be the simplest way to go. I'm not a fan of brakes anyways.

Re: Fast Attach v Threaded

Biggest reason I went with the QD (YHM .30cal) was the ease of going between 556 platforms (1/2-28) and .30 cal.
It is easier to thread on/off, but if you shoot much it will be too damn hot to handle either way!
