A lady friend quit staff nursing to work at Target for similar pay. Don’t blame her.

If I was doing hard labor for less than fast food wages, then I’d be dusting off the old high school skill set and get back to asking people “Would you like fries with that?”. No way I’d be sweating my ass off moving lumber when I could be flipping cheeseburgers in the AC for the same money. Plus, with the labor shortage you could actually pull more than 40 hours a week.

Local Del Taco here in OC/So Cal has had signs up for months saying $17-21 to start. Circle K has had a sign saying $17-19 + $500 bonus.

The real frustration is going to a fast food place knowing they are making at least $17 an hour, and they are dumber than a box of rocks and still fuck up your order.

Hell some of the small businesses near me have signs stating an extra fee for "doing business in CA". I have seen the rates vary from $2.25-3.00 per transaction. I need to find a job out of this state. It's past time to go.

And a meal at McDonalds or BK is now $17. So a low-wage worker still has to work over an hour to simply buy a burger, some nuggets, soggy fries and a drink. That's how inflation works.

Oh... how are they solving it here?

Now there is one idiot behind the counter. Not 5. And the counter wingnut handles the drive-through, too. So... they are getting $15 an hour. Run around like a rabbit... and will probably be replaced by a robot soon, too.

And if folks their 'culinary talents' in a Fast Food kitchen can't be replaced...

It might have cost millions to develop, but will make its founders rich if they market it right!

So... screw the $15 hour workers who are mainly just the pawns of socialist activists who make 6 figure salaries... social organizing soon-to-be-unemployed fast food workers. And working McDonalds is supposed to be a entry into understanding 'having a job' not a career. Unless you work your way up to franchise holder. Which lots do. Something like 90 percent of Dominos franchise owners started as pizza makers or drivers. Not going to happen with the robots.

But fuck them. They can't see beyond next week anyway. So let them find other jobs. I hear bricklaying, roofing and ditch digging pay well. Oops, no they don't. The Mexicans took all those jobs for half that. In cash. Sorry losers. Robots got your job!

    Sirhr

In South Dakota and saw $18 per hr start at convenience store posted. In Georgia school systems teachers bailing to work at Target and such - same or better money plus mush less BS

Food prep is becoming a career path, when few make meals at home. Little Caesars has fully automated pizza making machines. They are slower than people and cost just over 1 million dollars 6 years ago. When that machine is worn out, there will still be people willing to work for minimum wage. It wont be long the way things are going and that "robot" with be 2-3 million. You will still need people to monitor it. Hand out orders, clean the machines and store. Stock the machine, unload the truck, make the orders for product. Robots aren't anywhere near taking over the food industry.

Honestly I am not sure why people hate fast works so much really. If you don't eat there, it doesn't effect you. If you do eat there you are supporting it.

How many people in this thread lamenting this pay were also ones to tell us, "there is no such thing as price gouging." The market decides what something is worth.

Does anyone think fast food workers are the political powerhouse driving inflation? These wages fall in the effect category, not the cause.

Others wages are going to go up too, but not until people start leaving. For example, I know a lady who works for a developmental service. After 20 years she was a making 18 per hour. She quit and they hired someone at 35 per hour to replace her. When I worked for them the direct care staff was starting at 8-9 per hour, and benefits didn't kick in for 6 months. That was only about 9 years ago. For reference on how much our money has been devalued over the last decade.

It’s a damn shame. I am employed by possibly the largest correctional system in the United States and our starting pay is $20 an hour. That’s insane.

I’m about to be woking my ass over to panda.

Friend of mine left LE to drive a forklift for $25 plus benefits

The question in both of these cases would be.
What are the differences in benefits, job stability and retirement packages?
And of course how much woke B.S. and DeathVaxx pushing do you have to put up with?

Yea I have great benefits, retirement, no vaccine requirement, and a good schedule. I am much better off but just seeing the pure $ sign is frustrating.

Also a lot of these business only let people work 32 hours or under so they don’t have to provide any benefits.

Easy fix to this. Don't eat that SHIT.

    Boycott it like Budweiser.

I haven't eaten fast food in 10yrs. And before that, I would only accept Wendy's.

McDeaths, owns the largest worm farm on the planet. All of them.....Fast processed SHIT. Food, I think not. Spread the word.
