can match ammo be made on a turret press ? out side of case prepping I am curious to know if a turret press can handle the job, mainly the powder dispensers, can they throw accurate charges ?

Re: fast "match" reloading ?

lol their is no run and gun with an msg90 clone.

what i was thinking is to do all the brass preping and then size and prime and seat the bullet all on a turret press, if i ever save the money up for a chargmaster that seems to throw the powder pretty quickly so

Re: fast "match" reloading ?

I load my carbine match ammo on the progressive from start to finish. Keep in mind though that the average target size is about 5+ MOA and you could probably score well with Wolf assuming it doesn't clog up the rifle before the COF is over.

I run all my cases into the progressive to decap them with a Universal Decap die and then put them through the SS media tumbler. Once they're done there I size and prime on the progressive for several hundred cases at a time. Store in dessicant/ziplocs for later use.

I then trickle the precision rounds for stick powders and single stage everything for the precision matches.

I shoot BLC-2 in my match 223 loads under a 75 Amax. The Lee powder dispenser will reliably throw +/- 0.05gr of BLC-2 (really any ball powder does very very well) and I worked out a load that has about +/- 0.15gr of tolerance to keep the ES's in the teens. These are the only loads that I throw charges for in precision matches.

Re: fast "match" reloading ?

Functionally, I load my ammo on an RL550B, and I do it in two stages. First stage, produce a resized, recapped batch of cases. Second stage, drop and weigh/correct charges, and advance to seating station, so a case is being charged and another case is being seated on the same stroke. Effectively, I could do them all in a single sequence, but I would still always be weighing and adjusting each charge.

I don't believe in firing anything but a precision load in any of my target rifles, factory hunting ammo for my hunting rifles, and .22lr for pretty much everything else, especially for practice and training. The primary goal here is to get anything but a 'money shot' off the precision rifle and onto the training rifle. It's a bore life strategy.
