Kicking Ass Somewhere
This is a strange turn, wonder why the state bought in the feds, is this political cover, is there more than meets the eye of possible criminality on that force (unlikely), is the burned guy a target of something? Is James Comey still looking for Russian documents?

Is this s new method of sweeping the ugly stuff under the carpet and letting that cop go?

He is not in Jail because he has not been convicted of a crime. I hope the day never comes in America when people can be imprisoned simply because of unfavorable media exposure.

they arrest people everyday tha havent been covicted of a crime. and they hold people everyday that havent been convicted of a crime. surely you know this.....and if you dont, you need to wake up.

Why is that guy not in jail? He falsely imprisioned a citizen.

Could be because she and her lawyer have chosen not to prosecute, as they work out the $ settlement with the le agency, which was mentioned in the news article, "negotiating the settlement"..
She doesn't want to prosecute there won't be any jail for him. Her choice.....

And at this point, there's that pesky document called "the Constitution" and something called "due process" which is moving right along the path the Constitution guarantees all of us, including his fuck stick fired cop dumbass..

They also let people out on bond after an arrest and they let people who appeal convictions out on bond too, theres lots of ways to stay out of jail, surely you know this...... if you don't, well......

I'm drinking coffee now, and I feel like I am nearly awake. While of course I don't support the police arresting people without probable evidence of a crime, in this case it seems to me is the only people truly harmed are the taxpayers who will have to pay the settlement and the officer who (rightly) lost his job. The nurse will get a few million in the settlement.

I doubt his agency will cover him in this matter because he acted outside the scope of his authority.

The police union is appealing the firing and the demotion of the lieutenant to officer, so we've got to wait a bit longer to see the end of this fiacso.
We can only hope fuckstick stays fired, that the union doesn't get to negotiate a "fired" retirement for him at 27 years, where he gets paid retirement instead of having to withdraw his funds and create his future retirement. I don't know if Utah has 401 plans or a state run retirement system.

I don't see this going well for him. The Union will try to mitigate damages, but what has me questioning your statement (NOT veracity) is how does a lieutenant gets Union privileges? Typically the Union does not represent mgmt. Unless they're now willing to represent him because he's been demoted to the bargaining unit.

Which taxpayers were cuffed and stuffed, and subjected to a color of law violation?

Failing to identify the nurse as a "truly harmed" party is an oversight to put it mildly, get some more coffee in your system. ;)

The Lieutenant deal depends of several things. down here management begins at salaried captain and lieutenant is still hourly and paid ot, therefore union. I don't know what the Utah level is, just going by the different news reports that stated the union was appealing. Can only hope fuckstick stays fired..

He clearly committed kidnapping under the Utah code. So did his Lieutenant when he left the cuffed nurse in the cop car for an additional 30 minutes after determining that "charges would not stick".

Let both of those dirty cops serve 5 years to life.

They need to be held accountable, but that's stretching it a little, kinda like "conspiracy" charges and shit like that stretch the law. Definitely false imprisonment, conduct unbecoming and possible violation of 4A Rights, yeah.

The guy shooting the lady in PJ's ought to be charged and booked. I know that if I shot someone in the same circumstances, I'd be held FULLY accountable, and I'd be charged with a crime whether or not the victim wanted to press charges.

Blue falcons are killing the police, but some good ones can't seem to call out the bad ones and that makes the whole barrel of apples look rotten. When cops do deplorable shit and then other cops go the mat to back them up online, I can only think that this person probably does or condones that type of behavior and some Freudian mechanics are at work that make him feel the need to publicly exonerate the bad cop in order to confirm some confirmation bias to the rest of us. To the cops that call out the bad ones and refuse to stand behind (or in front) of them, hats off, need more like you.

Another reason he should have been jailed and either bonded out or stayed in jail. This two level legal system , one for the government and on for the citizens is causing the whole system to implode. People taking a knee could soon be remembered as the good old days. You cops know better so stop obfuscating and throwing up BS reasons he is getting special treatment, its a lawless system that will fall upon itself, then we will hear woe is me from the “hero” complex community. You best police yourselves of you will continue to pay the price in lost support, financially, and in actual danger as things progress and respect for you and the law continues to drop.

Wake it the fuck up man.

Left-tard Pelosi, Schumer, and such retard attacks against all gun owners when one fuck-tard does a Vegas, generally pisses off the other few million lawful gun owners who respond with reasoned responses and interesting posts that travel well with people on the board here. We see that a lot here. On other social media we see left-tard drivel attacks against the respondents who argue sensible facts, who don't appreciate group guilt or group punishment for the actions of one, and we generally see a degeneration into name calling.
Nobody wins, and nobody seems to change their minds, but the law makers "so far" haven't completely gutted the 2nd amendment, and all Americans still have the "same" opportunity under law, laws done by elected law makers.
If there's a problem with the system, it's with the elected, not the lawful gun owners.
If there's a problem with the criminal individual, it's on them, not the lawful gun owners..

That's not hard to see for anyone who's awake to reality.
And this is true with many arguments, substitute "your pissed off at xx" in the post above for lawful gun owners and put "anybody complaining" name in Pelosi's place.
Looks all the same to me. Hmmm.

Now, back to picking cotton, 400 more acres to go.

It seems like what the cop did was wrong, yet all it really cost the nurse was a couple of hours out of her shift (that she will get paid for anyhow) The cop already paid with his job. The guy who got demoted should have been fired too.

Not the point of my objection Diver, my point is the cop should have been arrested, just like any other citizen would have. I don't know what the heck J HUsky is going on about the 2A for I a talking about a separate and unequal set of laws for armed agents of the state and hell, for any agent of the state, and joe citizen, this will lead to a separation of our country.

T

It is no stretch. The Lieutenant was recorded telling the detective the charges would not stick, but they would keep the nurse cuffed in the car for another half hour and tell her that her case was being reviewed by a prosecutor to intimidate her into giving access to the patient. Read the kidnapping statute. The cops violated it. Prison for the cops.

If you or I handcuff someone and hold them in the back of a cop car knowing our actions to be wrong, we will go to prison. Unless cops are a privileged class who are above the law, they need to go to prison too.

You get the police department that the elected government allocates funds for.

Which means you get barely trained guys that have to navigate a law code made unnecessarily cumbersome by elected officials trying to look relevant, kick back money to special interests, or make it possible to convict anyone at a moments notice.

A solid continuing education in the Constitution should be mandatory but that would make the police a problem for the elected government.

That is exactly the case, and you should know it. Police always (or nearly always) lie to suspects but it a suspect lies the lie itself is a crime.

Need examples: When questioning a suspect the suspect is often told that his accomplice is in the next room singing so if you want a good deal start talking now. On the other side just google Martha Stewart.

The only words to say when being questioned or detained is "Am I free to go?" an keep asking until you get a yes or no answer. If the answer is no, the only other word to say is "Lawyer". Otherwise, keep your mouth shut!

What some seem to be missing here is this:
Did the nurse wish to file charges for unlawful detention or kidnapping?
If she does not wish to pursue criminal charges with the state, they won't file and they won't arrest.
If the FBI finds that her civil rights were violated (which is pretty damn evident), then he will be charged in federal court.

5 other cops watched him commit a crime, a serious felony, they should be fired for not arresting him.

Blue only enforces the laws they believe in. Had that been you or I we would have been hooked up quick, but the badge says they have special privileges. An to some extent I agree, however when they openly violate ones civil rights, their ass needs to go to jail. Notice when that happens it's almost never been by their departments hand. Yes I understand the back up argument, but right is right an wrong is wrong. If/when it all goes south, pay back will come from all different kinds of folks.
