I don't actually start threads very often, but this is pretty fucked up if all of it is accurate.

    Billions Wasted, Thousands Harmed

Between 2018 and 2021, US taxpayers—through Medicare and Medicaid—paid $18 billion for drugs approved under the condition that follow-up studies would be conducted. Many never were.

The cost in lives is even higher.

A 2015 study found that 86% of cancer drugs approved between 2008 and 2012 based on surrogate outcomes showed no evidence that they helped patients live longer.

An estimated 128,000 Americans die each year from the effects of properly prescribed medications—excluding opioid overdoses. That’s more than all deaths from illegal drugs combined.

A 2024 analysis by Danish physician Peter Gøtzsche found that adverse effects from prescription medicines now rank among the top three causes of death globally.

Elmiron: Ineffective, Dangerous—And Still on the Market

Another striking case is Elmiron, approved in 1996 for interstitial cystitis—a painful bladder condition.

The FDA authorised it based on “close to zero data,” on the condition that the company conduct a follow-up study to determine whether it actually worked.

That study wasn’t completed for 18 years—and when it was, it showed Elmiron was no better than placebo.

In the meantime, hundreds of patients suffered vision loss or blindness. Others were hospitalised with colitis. Some died.

Yet Elmiron is still on the market today. Doctors continue to prescribe it.

“Hundreds of thousands of patients have been exposed to the drug, and the American Urological Association lists it as the only FDA-approved medication for interstitial cystitis,” Lenzer and Brownlee reported.

almost eveyone i know that sees a doctor regularly is on some medication, even the skinny ones. statins or something.
All the medical schools are funded by big pharma so the doctors in the US are trained to prescribe a pill for every thing…except the ones that actually work…..healing people is bad business ex..ivermectin during Covid

Well, if we are lucky enough Robert Kennedy might be just crazy enough to rip the lid off and let in some sunlight. Although, I suspect that an accidental death is more likely in Mr. Kennedy's future...

Daughter’s family is selling their house and is going to be here temporarily. We set their camper in the woods a couple of weeks ago in a pretty spot far enough from everything to offer privacy. They are close to our firepit/picnic area. A 10x10 deck and cleared a few small trees later and 👍🏻.

150’ of trench yesterday. We ran 3/4 Pex and UF8-2 back there. Been wanting water and power to that area for a while anyway.

Exhibit 164897 that I am now old, I am no good this morning 🙄

Today was to be my rest day. I have been going like mad lately and today was going to be for recuperation…..

Dryer stopped working. Would hum but not turn 🙄

Took it to the shop, took it apart, checked it all and the motor was getting power but would only hum when the button was pressed.

Found a decent used Kenmore on FBMP and luckily the guy was home.

We back in the laundry after my “rest day”.

    Rules
