TOTAL SCORE MINUS PENALTIES:___95___

NOTE ANY PENALTIES:
On stage 2, I thought that 8 was a number (copied it wrong) and that shot hit the 8, but as I went up to look the target over, I realized that 18 was the number to shoot at, not 8. Problem was by this time I was back to 100yds, so i said what the hell, and shot at the 18 from there and wind blew it right over and I hit the 9... So I docked myself -5 for each of those 2 shots (-10). Thats why my target has 11 shots on stage 2. I took the shot on the 18 again just to fill out. I prob should have just left it alone.

30maf0m.jpg

This was my first time doing this and it was a great time. The wind made it awful unbearable tho. I had to keep sticking my hands in pockets to get the feeling back in my trigger finger.
Was lots of fun tho. Way better than just shooting normal bulls eye targets. Ha and its hard not toget greedy on stage 4. I imagine I will chase that one every time!!

DorganT.

Re: FEBRUARY 2011 SH SHORT RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITION

So what is the score of Stage 2 since there is 11 shots? Is it 25 or 30, or a disqualified Stage 2? Will be interesting to find out as I don't know if this has been covered before or not?

good point, I really don tknow how to treat that one, but I should prob be punished more than regular cause I shot more than the allotted 10 rounds. that one is up to the man...any advice on that?

Re: FEBRUARY 2011 SH SHORT RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITION

I'd like to hear what Top Predator has to say.

Actually, posting one's target is not a requirement - only posting ones score.

However (and nothing personal D_TROS), we clearly have a target posted here with 11 shots in Stage 2, and no doubt innocent enough.

Do we ignore the standing rules that are printed on the target and view them as guidelines instead of rules? It is a tactical target designed to make us better tactical shooters. If we do not follow the rules that are layed out in each Stage, then we failed the tactical challenge in that area completely to my mind.

Again, nothing personal D-TROS. This is probably a good thing as we now have to address this - something I'm sure none of us even considered.

Re: FEBRUARY 2011 SH SHORT RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITION

I think the first shot at the number 8 should be a penalized no hit. The 11'th shot does not count towards anything. Not a disqualified stage, but rather a disqualified shot. I do not think we need to ruin his whole target over it. People learn as they go along on this match. I'd like to give points for hitting what you were aiming for, but unfortunately, you were aimging for the wrong number. That would bring the score for this target down to 95, which is still very good. That's just my take on it. We'll see if TP chimes in. Nice shooting!

Re: FEBRUARY 2011 SH SHORT RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITION

Here's my $.02 He hit 8 spots that = 40 Pts The shot on 16 was a miss 0 Pts the 1st shot on 18 -5 Pts(no shoot miss) and the second on 18 -5 Pts (no shoot miss) and -5 Pts for an extra shot on the stage. That would be a total of 25 for the stage. I don't think the stage should be scratched but there should be a penalty for the extra shot.

STAGE #2: The Grid / 10 ROUNDS, POSSIBLE 50 POINTS - At the beginning of the month, 10 numbers will be randomly picked from 1-20 and will be listed on the opening post for that month. Only the numbers drawn will be shot at on The Grid, and be shot in the sequence of the numbers drawn, hits on proper numbered blocks equals 5 (+5) points. This will leave 10 no shoot blocks that if hit, will result in a 5 (-5) point penalty. A hit in an open area is a no hit, 0 points scored. A second shot or unintended shot on a picked number will result in a 5 (-5) point penalty.

Re: FEBRUARY 2011 SH SHORT RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITION

i think neoshooter hit it on the head, and we actually do have it in the rules that can apply for such an occasion, as he underlined the section. although it doesn't say "an 11th round" a second shot at any of the numbers would automatically make it an 11th round. and an "unintended shot on a picked number" takes care of the shot at the 18, but hit 9. even though 9 was a picked number, it got hit unintentionally.

hell, i guess we were smarter than we thought when we were developing this, even on accident!
laugh.gif

again as said before, it is for "learning and fun" as there are no real prizes, i don't think scrubbing the whole stage is the way.

but like joe martin said going by rules helps us to do it on a level playing field, and to enhance the "tacticality" of keeping one's thoughts straight.

so what i'm seeing:

12 hit = +5
19 hit = +5
10 hit = +5
15 hit = +5
16 miss = 0
2 hit = +5
17 hit = +5
4 hit or miss ? (close) you guys can argue over that if you want, i'll call it a hit for the sake of the topic = +5
18 miss = 0
9 miss and a hit = -5 (unintentional hit as reported) THANKS FOR THE HONESTY +5 as a hit

= 35 points so far (unless you guys say #4 is a miss, then 30)

#8 (a no shoot) was hit -5, an extra round in the stage -5 = -10 points

35 - 10 = 25 points (or 30 - 10 = 20 points if the 4 is a miss)

just to F things up more, i don't really think he hit the 9 with the shot that was intended for the 18. just as close as the 4, maybe not breaking the line on either, try looking at it by zooming in).

if that's the case of the shots on the 4 and 9 not breaking the line,

12 hit = +5
19 hit = +5
10 hit = +5
15 hit = +5
16 miss = 0
2 hit = +5
17 hit = +5
4 miss = 0
18 miss = 0
9 hit = +5

= 35 points so far

#8 (a no shoot) was hit -5, an extra round in the stage -5 = -10 points

35 - 10 = 25 points

either way D_TROS, it's still not a bad target, just a brain fart that killed you. lessons learned (as intended by the matches) - keep your head in the game and concentrate. i think we can appreciate you being honest about the sequence of hits and not trying to cook up a story.

plus it gave us something to talk about

Re: FEBRUARY 2011 SH SHORT RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITION

Ok sounds like general consensus is a 25 on S2. I will edit my score. I was leaning toward that as well.

Thanks again fellas, this is a fun target that I enjoyed poking holes in. Someday I hope to clean the target and not have this penalty conversation!! ha..

This is a lot of fun. I got my mkII TR a couple weeks ago and have had a blast shooting it.

I went for it on stage 4 and knew I flubbed the shot when I pulled the trigger. There is always next time.

This month I added a Kydex adjustable cheek piece instead of a Eagle stock pad and I got a triad tapered rear bag. I think I need to do a little more shooting with this system, as I feel everything is not settled in yet. The wind and the rapid fire rambo's at the range were getting on my nerves too!

Also I think the SuperSniper needs to go, my friend has a Bushnell 3200 elite on his 700 SPS and its much clearer. I was having a hard time reading the numbers for stage 2 @ 50 yds.

But I am happy, doubled my score from last month!

Re: FEBRUARY 2011 SH SHORT RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITION

The Kydex adjustable cheek pieces are great. I am a big fan myself. I think you will really like it when you get used to it. 105 is a great score. Anytyhing in the tripple digits is pretty tough on this target. Nice job!

That score is not bad for 50yards in the wind on a first try!

Hang in there, the four position matches are great for improving technique.
Welcome aboard!!

Re: FEBRUARY 2011 SH SHORT RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITION

Welcome to the rimfire matches Elian. Great to have another guy not afraid to post a score that wasn't prerfect.
At 50 meteres your prone and sitting are good.
Kneeling and standing is where the match is won.
Keep working at it.
I will be looking forward to your continued posting.

WOW! For a Winter month such as February that is usually cold, the shooting was hot! Plenty of close scores, and plenty of participants, including new shooters BUBBA JOE, DTROS, LARGEGIANT, and ELIAN_BHZ.

BUBBA JOE won the 50Y TRC from the bench, CLODHOPPER came out on top in the 50Y TRC prone, GREVO took top rank on the 25Y 4P, TOP PREDATOR in 25Y 4P SS, and ELIAN_BHZ posted a great score in the 50Y 4P.

As we "March" forward next month, surely the scores will be just as impressive as those lucky Lepracauns spread a few lucky charms our way and we could celebrate in Mardi Gras style, charging in like a lion and leaving like a lamb, Springing forward continueing the madness.......phew that's a ton of March cliches, I think i got 'em all!

Good Luck in March!
