I've got a Rem 700 (1:12 twist) that I recently picked up and I figured it would like the lighter bullets but NOPE - I tried a TON of different factory loads and twice now it's shot Federal GMM 69 grain ammo in the .2's & .3's - just loves the stuff.

So I need to work up a load on my Dillon 650XL using SMK 69 grainers. What powder should I use that would be similar to the Federal recipe burn rate?? IMR4985 or Varget or ???

Re: Fed GMM .223 replication load

Why not use TAC, start around 23 grs or so and see what you get. Will meter very well in the 650 and its not bad pricewise. Varget will work well too, but wont meter as well.

Fed GMM is IMR 4064..just cant remeber the grain weight right now. I think between 24gr-25grs, But if I'am wrong someone say so

^^^^^^Exactly what I shoot, but seated .010 short of the lands in my 700. Still fits in the mag box and shoots lights out.

I can attest to that too
