hey guys my cousin just bought a rm. 700bdl 7mm.08 she is a first time hunter, she is using 140grn. federal fusion. i was wondering how good this rig is for deer hunting.

well she has already shot my rem.700police in .300 win. mag. and had no problems she shot fairly well for a first time shooter. what i want to know is how lethal are these federal fusions, i would like to try them in my .300 mag.

i took her out this past sunday after her dad bought the rifle got it bore sighted in 2rnds. she was in the black, just 2inches low and 2inches right so i coached her on how to dial her scope in now she's getting 2inch grps. at 130yrds not bad for a rooky, right now all she needs to work on is her breathing after the first shot her grps get a little wider but i told her the more she shoots the rifle the better she will get,she was like a kid at christmas couldnt wait to brag to her brother.

well guys my cousin didnt get any shooting this year, i could have but past on an a nice 2yr.old 8pnt. wanted to let him grow a couple of yrs. but met up with a meat hunter after passing me and was shot i watched the whole episode through my spotting scope from the time he past me till the time he was shot after he was shot he walked off laid down, the 5min. it took the hunters to get out of their blind they still had to put another round in him to finish him off, i was PISSED.....

Take the rifle in and have the trigger worked. What type of optics did she get? What type of range set-up is she using? Do you reload? If so, load up some 120 gr BT amd practice, practice, practice. By next fall she'll be a machine.

It is a great hunting round for deer and many other species as well. I think she made an excellent choice.

the optics my cousin bought is a 4-16x40 centerpoint milldot retical. you can get them at walmart for around $80.00.and she has a set of rockridge bi-pods.

Might want to rethink the optics thing, an $80 scope on a ~$600 rifle is counter intuitive.

well thats all she could afford for now she just graduated highschool and just started a job working for Dupont so it wont take long for an upgrade,besides the rifle was bought used not new only paid$450

I have 2 7mm08's. I would go with the hornady sst over a federal. Those come as close to my hand loads as it gets. I shoot them in my 308's as well.

My dad shot the balistic winchesters. He had 3 deer in a row run over a hundred yards and had no exit wound. I got him a box of hornadys and he hasn't tracked a deer since. I've had one run and it went 20 yds but it was a 325yd shot.

My dad shoots a sako 7mm08. The long shot I made was with a 308 but ive shot plenty over 300 with a 7mm08

chipo1 sakos are great rifles i used to have a tikka t3 hunter in .300win.mag very accurate rifle,but traded it for my rem.700p .300 win mag. thats what i still have and deer hunt with.
