I have noticed that Federal has a new box for .308 gold medal match and the price has dropped almost in half. The bullets have a blue seal on the primer and the actual ballistics marked on the new box is different from the old box. Whats going on? Has the quality changed? Has anyone else noticed this?

Re: Federal Gold Medal Match change?

Intresting....

I have a question for you guys as well. Before this last guns and ammo boom in sales, (elections, war, etc.) what was the average price for a box of FGMM?

I was wondering if the price part of hibc's question is a result of supply/demand slowly returning back to what it was.

Just curious,

-Pat

$23-25 retail (plus tax,...)
$21-22 internet (plus shipping,...)

Re: Federal Gold Medal Match change?

I have a box of FGMM 168 gr. from Lot 2-No 21 W663 on the back of that box it shows the 2600 fps at 2635 ft-lbs at muzzle, 2410 fps at 2285 ft-lbs. at 100yds, 2230 fps at 1975 ft-lbs at 200yds, 2060 fps at 1705 ft-lbs at 300yds and ends at 1890 fps at 1460. I found the web site and figured I would post it here for the 168 gr. since thats what I use. It appears that they have gained some velocity but lost a little in ft-lbs ( kenetic energy ). Re: Federal Gold Medal Match change?

Really lucky here. Midwest gun exchange in Indiana was selling boxes @ $17 on special. I cleaned out their stock twice! For some reason my gun loves these factory loads, just shot my first multiple 5-shot 1/2 MOA @ 600 yards last week! I am not noticing a difference in quality here.

Re: Federal Gold Medal Match change?

Has anybody tried the Federal American Eagle 7.62x51 168gr OTM, the part# is A76251M1A. The box says for M1A, the ballistic info printed on the box ia nearly identical to FGMM 168gr.
I bought two boxes to try it out, but it will be a week or two.
Just wondered if anyone else has tried it. it was $14.95 a box at the gunshow.

Re: Federal Gold Medal Match change?

Have noticed 7.62 fgmm 175 for $20 a box, little slower than the .308 at $35 (2600 vs 2650). I know that 762 has ever so slightly longer headspace but don't recall what pressure limit differences may exist.

Not that I've seen. I've went through about 300rds of it in the last 3mo and it has been excelent. I placed very well in the last 500yd F class I shot woth them. Once I found my spot they hit it over and over. Very consistant.
