I don't buy much anymore, but 99% of the time, buying locally will end up costing you SIGNIFICANTLY more money than ordering from one of the online sources like Palmetto, etc. where even with S&H, you can buy for <$1/round. Take Palmetto State Armory for example...$17.99/box of 20, 500 rounds for $449.75 + $12 S&H = $461.75 delivered to your door (or just over $0.92/round delivered).
My guess is that buying locally, even if you can luck out and find it for $24 or $25/box, ends up costing you more than $0.30/round more by the time you pay sales tax, gas to go pick it up...not to mention the mental costs of tolerating the short-bus riders in the local gunshop for any length of time!!

Local shops here sell it for $39.99 a box. I just buy from Southwest Ammo. Same quality and arguably better performance with Lapua brass instead of that wanke Federal.

The guys selling it for around $40.00 get their ammo supply from a distributor like Jerrys sports, who charge $32.00 a box, and stick it to you on shipping. I know because I use to buy from them, until I found that a local gun shop sold it retail for $27.00. They buy it direct from Federal is my guess, which cuts out the middle man like distributors. At $17.99 it makes you wonder what federal sells it direct for......

The shops name is kurlies. It is in Campbell ca. Outfitter type shop everything there is expensive. A remy 700 p new goes for 1150.00

My local guy has it for $29.95 box, but only hits me for $22.00. I know I can get it online a bit cheaper, but he pretty much only stocks it for me and a couple of his law enforcement clients. I would rather support him whenever I can.

sportsmans warehouse was $19.95 a box for the 168's for quite a while. I was just there last week and they bumped them up to 38.95

Nope.They had it for 17.99 about 4-5months ago.bought a bunch ,ran out it was 18-19.99 for a few months, then fathers day it went to 17.99 bought 2k and its been on sale since.nobody is cheaperive found.

I saw the 175 SMK at a local gun shop yesterday for $56 per 20rd box. I kid you not. It's a small town, i.e. captive market. There's a Gander Mountain out by the interstate but they rarely carry the good stuff. The local Wally World closed its gun department and has only a smattering of ammo.

I just check old emails and looks like I placed an order on June 8th and on my invoice it is listed as $16.99 a box of Federal smk 168gr bthp. Have not seen them since and I have been checking twice a week and all new email deals from palmetto state.
