Just an FYI on Federal primers. I used to shoot with Bob Rosen who is a Federal sponsored benchrest shooter. He toured the plant where Federal primers are made. When he got back he told me the primer making machinery runs 23 hours a day. They shut it down for 1 hour for cleaning and maintenance every day. The primers made in the first 2 hours after they start it back up get put in match boxes or match ammo, the rest get used for ammo or sold as regular primers.

Thanks for this info. I use the Match primers, just because............ But I've never been able to see any difference between the standard and match primer.

I got told by the Federal rep they are also only marked match if they come off machinery from an "experienced operator".

I don't bother with match primers. However, at least CCI weight sorts their match primers.
