I just picked up this scope in trade and it's a very clear scope and great for low-light hunting. I'm big into target shooting and most of my other optics are in the 6-24 and 8-32x range and are second focal plane scopes. I've searched a lot on the forum and online on whether or not anyone uses this scope for any long range shooting since it's a first focal plane scope but I cannot find anyone using it for that. It also has a very limited amount of elevation and no adjustable objective.

Has anyone had experience or know if you can send this back to Zeiss and put target turrets on it for additional elevation, if so what would the ballpark cost be? Would it be worth the hassle (cost, etc) or better to sell it as is and pick up a different scope? I've sent Zeiss a couple of emails but I have not heard back which is why I'm posting in this sub-forum.

Does anyone have this scope and use it for long distance shooting? If so did you add a 30MOA rail, etc?

Below are some pics of it:

I have sent my 1.5-6x42 Diavari-V (newer version of Diavari-Z) back to Zeiss for target turrets. I forget the cost, but it was very reasonable - well under a couple hundred. I have also had lenses upgraded by them. Just call the number on their website for the VA service center and talk to them. I have never had a turnaround more than a couple weeks.

One thing to consider, when they add target turrets they will put the indicator hash on the scope body by hand...it looks like they either scratch the anodizing or use an engraving pencil. Either way, don't expect a perfectly cut laser mark.

That's really good to hear that they can replace the turrets, I'm going to give them a call today! When they replaced your turrets did you acquire any more elevation, if so how much?

No added elevation.

With a 20MOA base, I have about 8.5 mils of until I run out of elevation, which is enough to get my 300 Win Mag to ~1000m. ...not that I shoot that distance with that scope - it is a hunting rifle.
