Re: feedback on the AWC Thor
Ok,
So I shot the AWC THOR Ti today, (.30 cal) and compared it to my TBAC 30P-1 and I have to say I was very impressed.
Being I was able to control the environment much better then when I demo'd the unit initial back in 2011, this was a night and day experience with the suppressor.
Conditions were not great, the wind was gusting all day around 18MPH, so bad at one point it torn my target down with 6 staples in it. However the results were excellent and worth sharing.
The rifle used was my Accuracy International AX 308 (20" 2650fps) the ammo was factory loaded 175gr.
I started off the day zeroing the rifle without any can on it. Just to make sure I can check the deviation from unsuppressed to suppressed with each can. (remember alway zero at 9 O Clock on the target to cover SD)
My first set of shots with the AWC THOR Ti
You can reference the zeroed un-suppressed group below the initial group.
The deviation with the THOR was roughly 1.5" from center and they grouped high, at 12 O Clock on the Shoot N C target.
I then added the TBAC 30P-1 to the rifle
I shot the same target, which I should have deviated, but didn't however you can see the TBAC was just slightly below the AWC group by 1/2" so very close to the same POI Shift between the two suppressors with a similar zero.
Then I shot them independently just to check the group size for accuracy.
I shot a little bit better group with the THOR, but the TBAC was as consistent as ever given the conditions. The wind was really bad, and effecting both me and my shots. So after the TBAC group was shot I added a second TAB Rear bag to help stabilize the rifle. It clearly made a difference. Still I would call it good.
The AWC is a good looking can, and clearly effective. I don't know what caused the early deviation I saw when I tried to demo the can back in Nov, but I am glad it turned out as it did. The THOR was excellent and I look forward to shooting it some more.
