I have a dpms 20" bull barrel upper with rifle length gas system and the RRa lower has a mil spec adjustable buffer tube(from larue) with a carbine buffer. I have been using federal and pmc 55 grain factory ammo. Sometimes the rifle cycles fine but alot of the time it will eject the spent round and not feed a new one. I have tried a mil spec buffer spring and buffer ( the larue came with a high silicone spring and not sure if it had a heavy buffer so put in a mil spec )
I have checked out the gas rings and they seem fine- carrier wieght wont colapse on the bolt.
Tried different mags. Guns lubbed. I would say 500-750 rounds down the tube.

What do you think?

with some care use of ''white out'' after cleaning off oil around the gas key .shoot the weapon see if black soot -blow by is showing a leak ...i had some trouble with one ar ,the gas key was trouble ...the gas tube can be damaged if the gas key is loose ...the other is the gas rings do the gas ring test and look the rings are lined up ??

The carrier is staked and tight. I haven't seen much soot around the gas block or carrier key. I will try the white out trick this weekend. What would be the best way to check the gas block alignment?

I've been hunting a similar problem with my compass lake upper. It only happens with pmc 55 grain ammo. Once that is shot up I won't be getting more.
