I didn't do averages on any of the numbers, but the box I measured a month or so ago of 20 has a coal of between 2.797-2.801", Base-ogive of 2.197-2.202", and base to shoulder of 1.617-1.619".
Of note is I have 2 of the Hornady 8-30 comparators and they are both pretty different, so I have to color code them and make sure I use the right one. On one cartridge for base-ogive I get 2.201" with one comparator, and 2.216" with the other. From my numbers you can see I've been using the smaller one for my ogive measurements, but seems like the big one is more in line with Jarhead above. I had only been using the larger one when checking bearing length (large one for base of bullet) to keep things consistent. Moral of the story is (even though you just asked about COAL) if you are checking base-ogive you are better off measuring your own box of cartridges because it seems there is some variation in the comparators.
