So I decided to play with a Springfield 2020 RF to see if they are really as bad as they say they are......Mine sucked bad. Shot almost 5" at 100 yards.

So I tried to see what I could do to make it better. There was a thread here asking about barrel and I decided not to clutter that thread up and just start a separate one.

I did end up getting mine to shoot fairly well.

Check out the video

Nice video. You put in some work to make that thing shoot marginally well. Nice improvement. Hopefully, Springfield will get wind of this and just make them a bit better from the start….
I thought marginally nice as well....until I found out 1" 5 shot groups is actually much better than marginal for 22LR.

I have yet to see a 22LR that can shoot much better than that. But I would love to see one if you can share some info...

Here is a 12 shot group with SK Match out of a 20” Vudoo.

That’s a half inch circle for reference.

At 100 yds, a 1" 10-shot group is about average for PRS Rimfire gun/ammo combination.
That said, for testing rimfire, 50 yards is a bit better than 100 as you start to get enough environmental effect at 100 to bias results.

I was planning on testing it at 50 as well after how poorly I felt it shot at 100. I know most people test 22lr at 50 not 100. But I guess I was over confidant. It was also a little windy that day as well. I edited it down a lot but you can still hear wind gusts hear and there.

I still feel like it shoots very well.

Hopefully this gives hope to some of the guys that bought one of these and are not happy with it, that they can remedy it with a barrel swap but may have to buy a tool or two to do it.

Also I order the blank and there is a spot it is touching the stock so not completely free floated but I don't think it makes that big of a diff on 22lr. Though I do plan on clearance the stock to see.

Also I don't claim to be a great shooter, I just like making barrels. I am sure someone else could get it to shoot better.
