On 8/28/2015 I posted in the IFAK sticky above that I was interested in getting some gear I need.

Well I dicked about until a Hide Member, Jared2005PowerWagon! , posted stating he could help provide gear. He offered to do something about my lack of preparedness.

I took Jared up on his offer to communicate and assist.

I told him I have the need for three kits

    1. To go on a plate carrier for work needs. Think gunshots and trauma.

    2. To go on my range bag. Think gunshots and maybe the need to deal with a boo-boo.

    3. To go on my hiking pack. More likely to be used dealing with the kids getting a boo-boo, maybe a burn of sorts, and possibility to deal with more serious bleeding if need be.

Jared hooked me up with three kits. Leatherman is an old vintage standard type for scale.....

This is the plate carrier IFAK. In addition I had him send me two SOF-T style tourniquets for separate holders that came with my carrier. I think its pretty complete for my level of training and the extra gear is intended to have available to drop and go for someone to self help or others to provide immediate aid.....

The range bag and hike kits are pretty similar and again they provide me with a good spread of treatment options from boo-boo to Oh Fuck.

The care/triage cards are good adds I wasn't expecting.

Ill probably take these all apart and move some around here and there but from the conversations I had with Jared he provided what I asked and in well packaged kits. The canvas gear is made in USA and the contents are OEM not Chinese Ebay knock offs.

I wont go into pricing because what I asked for will differ from what you ask for. I will say that I dont think Jared is looking to get a share of your future earnings because you saved your life with this gear as some companies seem to be doing with their pricing.

Now Im sure real knowledgeable people can probably critique an IFAK and say "Why have that when you should have had this?" but I think that is counter productive.

All I see is the benefit that a guy that procrastinated for three years finally got off his ass and did something about his unpreparedness because someone with some knowledge, access and desire held his hand and made him do so.

BZ on getting the gear. (y) Not a critique, but a recommendation. Be sure to get training on the specific items in your IFAK, especially the TQ. Hemorrhage control is tough enough, even more so under stress.

Thank you. That sticky has been at the top for so long, I'd kind of forgotten it. I've been procrastinating also. Needed this kick.

Pmclaine, one thing i would recommend is to clearly mark those as First Aide kits with a patch of some sort.......since you have a sea of beige, trying to find one pouch can be tricky under stress........or should someone else need to find your FAK, itll make it much easier for them.

Those compact packs are great and truth be told more of them go through dry rot than use. That is what I hope happens to mine anyway.

Agreed on the marking. Need to get a red sharpie out and do some coloring. Unlike the SoTech people I'll use a Red Cross not worrying about offending someone.

After all I don't dislike "croissants".

Where are you guys getting the molle pouches? My wife is a nurse and I can get most of this stuff from her for free. My shooting buddy is an ER doctor so that certainly will be helpful also. I am looking to get something like this together, My gun club is very remote and I shoot alot during the week which means it will be only 2 or 3 of us at a time there. We have been talking about getting a good kit together and this post has made me realize that it is a must.

honestly any Molle pouch will do.....all of the big names have their own pouches and they all do more or less the same thing.

for med kits, i personally like the tear away/ velcro backed pouches

    something like this:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01G07FO0M/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

that way if you need to you can tear it off and hand it to someone.... or if you are injured and in an odd position, it makes it a lot easier to get shit out of if you dont have to contort yourself.

pro tip: buy a size larger than you think you need......gauze is bulky, TQs are bulky, nearly all the FAKs ive seen are bulging at the seams, and shit goes flying everywhere when they are opened.

I like Tactical Tailor and London Bridge Trading for their canvas products and the Made in the USA factor. Lots of places sell bags though.

One of the two mentioned makes a nice insert for AR pouches to contain the most necessary FA gear in a small package.

For supplies be careful on Ebay as there are Chicom counterfeits that deceive as well could be dangerous.

In the sticky someone posted info for Chinook Medical Supply and that looks like a great source for replacing gear.

If you get in touch with Jared Nucci he should be able to supply you a complete kit as he did for me. He will try to set it up based on your needs so I wont discuss pricing other than he is a better value than some of the ready made kit suppliers I checked out.
