Hello all. I've been a member for a while but never posted. I recently finally finished my first bolt gun. I was hoping to get it sighted in, in the next couple of weeks. I know this topic has been discussed before but I was wondering about break in. Do I just go shoot it or is their some sort of ritual I need to be practicing. I would just like to give the rifle the best chance for accuracy and leave the rest up to me. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance and I love this site it has been a great resource for knowledge. KM

Re: Finally Done!!

There are a bunch of threads on this topic. Alot of people are going to tell you to just simply shoot the shit out of it. I dont agree. I also don't agree with some drawn out procedure either. Shoot one round and clean with some strong copper solvent. I use shooters choice. If the patch is blue then shoot another two rounds and clean with copper solvent. simply repeat untill the patch stops becoming blue. It will only take 5 or 6 hots! Not 50! All your doing is removing the copper build up from the jacket being fired over a freshly tooled chamber. Once the blue stops showing let her rip!
