- VLTOR stock
- upgraded ergo grip
- upgraded tactical charging handle
- magpul rail covers

Maybe he thought co-witness was only the front post? There is no sight in the rear.
I would run the eotech farther forward also.

Re: Finally finished AR (Pics)

I do have both a magpul and troy flip up rear sight, but i took it off the rifle because of where I decided to position the eotech.

The reason I have it so far back is that according to NYS law, assault rifles cannot have collapsible or adjustable stocks, and since I am 6'2" with longer arms, I have the stock pinned all the way extended in the 4th position. So to me, the most comfortable location for the eotech based on my cheek weld is where it is currently located.

Cheek weld doesn't have a part in using an eotech or Aimpoint. You could lift your entire face up off the stock and as long as you can see the dot on the target you'll hit it. That's the great thing about the dot-sights.

I'm guessing you don't shoot with your nose to the charging handle?

Looking at your set-up you could still move the eotech forward with the stock fully extended and install your rear iron while still obtaining a good sight picture with the eotech/irons.

Throw your nose as far forward as possible and your "problem" will negate itself. Install your rear iron.

The eotech/aimpoints will work better more forward than to the rear. There is no eye relief or parallax to worry about, what you see is what you get regardless of where your cheek is on the stock. With the irons, the closer you can get your eye to the rear aperture the better sight picture you will get.

To take the BUIS off the rifle so a 1x optic that could be mounted five feet away and still work is not common sense. Put the Eotech forward and put the BUIS back on so you have something if that battery dies.
Not trying to be an ass just trying to pass on some COMMON SENSE!

Re: Finally finished AR (Pics)

Magic, take a look at this video and you'll see what people are talking about for shooting position and optic location.

Travis Haley & Chris Costa

These guys are two of the best shooters anywhere and are the people to look at to emulate shooting style. Shooting an AR or other rifle of this type is not the same as shooting a bolt gun. The face-forward position allows for engagement of multiple targets and shooting while moving. You could easily move your stock 2-4 positions forward. Look at their arm postions and where their face is in relation to the rear sight.

Just passing on stuff it took me a looong time to learn.
