If anyone has any tooling laying around that I may need PM me the detail and price.

I have been looking for a lathe for awhile now and the stars finally aligned.

I bought it dirt cheap, within 30 miles and it came with a few extras. Its covered in grime, but it looks like it wasn't run much at all. Underneath all of the dirt it is in immaculate condition. Just the Bison chucks it came with were worth more than the asking price.

It came with several 3 jaw chuck, a Bison 4 jaw, lots of new indexable carbide bits, several live and dead centers and a bunch of other stuff that I need to degrease and dig out of the boxes when I get time

It's a Frejoth 14x40 and apparently they are still in business.

I know is not US steel, but from what I understand and have read the 1980-90 era Taiwanese imports were not half bad.... This one was made in 1990.

All of this for a $1000 plus he had a lift to load it on the trailer.

It'll be great to wet my feet on. Now I won't have to go over to my buddies how to do all of my builds.

Anyone that has any tooling that they want to sell send me a PM

The distance thru the headstock looks pretty darn short. Whats the dia of the headstock? Make a spider for the outbore and grab some tooling and you'll be gtg. Check out arthur warner tool, they make HSS inserts. Works great on a smaller/lighter lathe and will leave a nice finish at slower speeds.

Congrats Tunacan,
Casey

I have donated a lot of reamers to the community pot. Every time I want a new caliber, I buy the reamer and leave it at my buddies.
It's a small price to pay for chambering, truing and muzzle brake install.
I can't say it'll be cheaper for me to own a lathe, but I've always wanted one.
It'll be fun just to tinker and have the capability to do my own stuff.
Hopefully I don't make any "new" friends with this purchase

This looks as if it will do fine, dont sweat the fact that its an import. I have an import and have done some serious tight tolerance stuff on it, biggest part is the setup. You have to get it level and make sure bed stays straight, gibs can be tightened and unless its got major dings on the ways it should be fine. More rigid you make the setup the better.

I have 3 Webb machines in the shop that are imports. They are as nice and accurate as any of the domestic machines. Now to make some chips!
