Hello, I thought I would post this info here and hope this helps, when I built my ackley I had a hard time finding good info on case forming with easy to follow instructions. This is the way I do it. Should work for most cases based on the 06

30-06 Ackley improved 40 degree Case Forming

Prime cases with Large pistol primers
Charge case with approx 14 grains of herco or unique using 1.6 cc lee scooper
Using 2.8 cc lee scooper, fill the rest of the case with cream of wheat or malt-o-meal. COW will be right at top of neck, tap funnel several times with scoop to settle COW into case.
Melt candle wax approx 3/16 to ¼ inch thickness into the lid from a jar and allow to cool. Once cooled push the case into the wax to seal off the contents of the case
Fire your cases through your rifle and reload as you usually would
You will find the shoulder will not be quite as sharp as it is when using projectiles. The first firing of loaded rounds will correct that.

Note:

I like to use old powder and primers found at yard sales or gun shows etc to save on the cost of case forming as it does not make any difference at all. You are only forming cases. I have used 40 year old powder that my Dad had before I was born and it worked fine. Also generic brands of hot cereal also work fine. I do however recommend using the very best brass such as Lapua because case forming does stretch the case out to a new shape and it is time consuming, and in my experience you will get about twice as many loadings from these cases as you would from cheap ones.
