I’m wanting to try the cream of wheat method of fire forming for my 260AI. My question is has anyone here tried using foam ear plugs instead of pillow stuffing? I have a huge bag of ear plugs left from a project and was thinking of filling the case with the wheat up to the neck shoulder junction then installing the ear plug and razor off the excess. Any insight would help.
Thank
Donald

It’s an AI, right? Just shoot regular.260 and be done with it... Does the 260AI preclude this for some reason?
I normally fire form with hot 260 loads. This barrel is getting pretty high on round count and I’d like to preserve some of what’s left Until my new barrel is done. Round count is little over 1800 and I just killed my last batch of brass after 13 firings. My new barrel is 3+months out(trying something different)

Hydroform. It's cheaper and a big pain in the ass until you get it figured out. Once you have it figured out you'll wonder why you did it any other way.
You can run full power loads on the first firing with no issues if it is done right. No barrel life, powder, or bullets used. PM me if you want to know how I do it.

I shot a 243 AI in Fclass for a while, I just fireformed the brass at the matches (no further than 600yds)worked just fine.
I knew a guy the saved an old worn out barrel and used it to fireform his 6mm dasher with the corm meal method in his garage and an old stump to catch the bullets. There is no crazy way to do this, only crazy people ??
Cheers
