Hi everyone. I'm new here and had a question about my first attempt at a ghillie suit.

My base color is tan and I used
real burlap. My question is should I use the burlap that's tied into the netting to attach natural vegetation? Or am I better off tying random pieces of jute twine that's a bit thicker into the netting? Thanks for any help/tips.

Honestly after doing stalks at the school house and stalks over the year most guys don't waste time with burlap it tends to fall apart easily, but you can still use it. Most of us stick the the 40% jute 70% veg. Hit up Tactical concealment there only place i've found that sells real good jute. As for using veg there are two schools of thought. the lazy way is to tie it straight to your jute which works most of the time, but ya end up with alot of knots at the end of the day. The second is putting ties(most people use 550 cord) all over your netting which works pretty good. Me personally like tying it straight to the its jute faster and your not limited to where you can put veg.

I second the burlap comment. Not worth the time and effort. Stick with the jute and 550 cord for veg attachment.

I got my supplies from the local tactical store. 3/4" netting, duck canvas, and jute.

All in all my ghilli cost just under $200, took me 3 days(my unit let me work in it throughout the day) and I had enough jute left over for another ghilli. Like stated, the camo should be 30% jute, 70% natural veg. Take your time sewing the canvas and netting together (I used a sewing machine and cut apart all the seams and resewed them with the netting and canvas built in, then covered all in shoe goo). Definitely worth it as I didn't lose a single stitch during school.
