Gunsmithing First build

I need to identify this stock before i can build my rifle. The stock is black walnut from my grandpa who has had it for 30 years. He decided the figure of the wood was not good enough and got a new piece of wood to finish his project. As the years have progressed he has forgotten what specific action this was roughed out for. Can you please help me identify it?. I plan on using whatever the action is and picking the .308 Thanks for the help.
