Help me pick my first long range optic. I putting together my first long range rifle. Tikka in a KRG Bravo chassis. I'm getting ready to buy my optic and have a few to choose from. I'm stuck between the Vortex PST Gen 2, Athlon Cronus BTR or buying a used 1st gen Razor all 3 are about the same money and I'm going MRad if that matters. I'm sure there is probably a thread that would help but I'm old and suck at the internet so any help would be appreciated.

Athlon Cronus BTR

I owned the earlier Vortex PST models and had enough issues to chase me away from the Vortex altogether. Current models may be better

My Athlon Cronus side by side with my NF ATACR gives it a run for its money

I’m just guessing the ZCO and TT are a bit out of the budget for the OP

But if you find a ZCO or TT at the same $$ as the Vortex or Athlon then jump on that shit like a fat kid on a cupcake!

CameralandNY is a good place to find the Athlon. They had a sale going not that long ago on them.

For those with the Cronus how is the floating dot? I know its all personal preference but it seems like it would be hard to pick up through the optic I'm kinda leaning towards the crosshair. I get a deal on Cronus through work I appreciate the heads up on the offer though.

I have the crosshair. So no experience with the dot. I have zero complaints

The Cronus is every bit as clear as a Razor. The only place is falls short is in illumination. The numbers have light bleed on the mil/mil APRS versions and Athlon told me they aren’t able to correct it. If you are OCD about lume, go Razor. Otherwise buy a Cronus BTR and you’ll love it.
