Hello,

First time poster here, long time lurker. I love the knowledge base here on the forum and the people seem top notch.

I am finally in the market for a suppressor, and wanted to seek out some recommendations. I want to start out with 3 rifles that will see the most range/training time. R700 LTR in .308, 5.56 AR with 16" barrel, and an 11.5" SBR in 5.56. I have been set on the TBAC 30BA (or BAS) for a few weeks now, for use on my bolt gun, but have also read where Zak doesn't necessarily recommend running the titanium 30 cal cans on shorter 556 rifles. The questions I have:

-What types of risks are involved running a can like the 30BA or BAS on a 11.5 inch barrel 5.56, with no mag dumps or full auto? Should they be fine on the 16"? I love the interchangeability of TBAC brakes and would like to have the same attachment system on all of my rifles, especially the SBR. I see that the TBAC muzzle brakes (even the 223 aperture) are not compatible with the TBAC 223 suppressors. I do want muzzle brakes on both AR's.

Suggestions?

Thanks for the reply Zak.

Are there any plans in the works for a 223-a that would be compatible with the 1/2-28 muzzle brake?

What is the absolute shortest barrel you recommend shooting 5.56 through the 30BA or BAS without full auto or mag dumping of any kind? As long as I keep the can under 800 degrees, should it matter? What about the 12.5" barrel?

I am mainly trying to keep everything interchangeable for future plans, etc.

Yes, we have a "mount" in the works that is more appropriate for 5.56.

On the 30BA/BAS, the shortest we'd recommend in 5.56 is 14.5"

Thanks. Looks like I will be buying two cans, one for either caliber.

This being said, I would prefer the weight of the 223p-1 over the 223a, especially for an SBR. I see that you run a 223p-1 on a 12" Noveske upper with good results, even if you don't necessarily recommend it. What kind of firing schedule limitations have you noticed are acceptable for that setup?

I've shot typical 3Gun stages with it. 12.5" is more for our own testing, not the recommended long-life application. The safety factor is reduced on 12.5"

Most people who buy the 223A don't end up minding the weight because it's already on an SBR which reduces the lever arm factor (torque). That one is super tough, you can shoot it on a 7" full auto all day.
