First time 1000 yard shooter **VIDEO**

Yesterday I met up with a friend of another Hide member and made a trip to the range. He had never shot past 600 yards before and wanted to try 1000 yards.

He started off with his Tikka T3 Varmint in .308 and factory 168gr ammo. He was doing a great job smack'in the steel at a grand.

Amber then came over and decided to shoot some chickens with the AR (http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2272638#Post2272638 )
and I broke out the 6XC.

After some dry firing to get use to the 2oz....YES..TWO ONCE...trigger he then put 5 rounds on target at 1000 yards.

Everyone was having so much fun shooting I decided I need to do some shooting too.

It was a great day to be at the range. I think we all had a good time and hope Darin comes out and shoots with us again soon.

See.....Too me this is what it's supposed to be all about.

This is a perfect example of how freaking cool Snipers Hide and it's members can really be. I've been here for almost 2 years learning something new about the sport on almost a daily basis from you guys, and have made friends with a lot of you along the way.

Thanks to guys like Stan and Vu who have gone out of their way to get me, my buddy, and I'm sure a ton of others out to shoot makes this sport so damn fun and worth doing.

I just want to say thanks to all of you, LL, our members, and all the vendor's who put up with us.

Pretty much. With the weight of the rifle and muzzle brake....it feels like shooting a .22. Lots of fun to shoot.

Hey Stan what range is that? I'm heading out to the Oroville Clay Pits today to punch some steel at 550 yards. I'm looking for somewhere a little closer to Chico/Redding area that I can get out further.

If anyone in the Chico/Oroville area wants to go shooting to today send me a PM, I'll be the 20 year old guy out there around 2pm with my roommate, my .308 XLR and some .22's.

The range is the TSA range outside of Red Bluff, CA. It is a private range but open to the public for matches.

We will have a 600 and 1000 yard bench rest match every month starting in Feb. And there is usually a service rifle match every month too.

The barrel is 27 1/2" or so. Was 28" but following the spec's/drawing provided by Badger for the FTE brake it had the end of the barrel about a 1/4 of the way into the first chamber of the brake. So we had to chop it down a bit.
