Re: first time 700 build

Not picking on you but if you research you will educate yourself Alot more than you can imagine. You will find models based in price and options. It's very common to see someone's first post be in reference to the sps tac. A little of your time searching the hide you will find many post identical to yours with answers and help. But it all comes down to budget and what you want in the gun. Best of luck and welcome to the hide .

Ps Te search bar is in the upper right!

Re: first time 700 build

Its not fluted but its a real shooter, get a 5r Milspec. Slap it in an aics and sell the stock for about $200.

You could then send it off for fluting.

Re: first time 700 build

Just my opinion as a custom-build snob, but a production Remmy 700 and AICS stock don't really go together. One of the higher end Rem 700 packages from the factory should have an adequate stock. If you're RH I vote 5r mil-spec as well.

Now, if you want to send your action to a builder to be blueprinted, add a real barrel, etc - then the AI 2.0 is perfect.

Or you could really do it right and get the custom build to start...but there are already "buy once, cry once" and "blueprint or buy precision" threads.

Re: first time 700 build

Aics seems like a quick and easy option but they are tanks look at a manners w a mini chassis same easy bolt in and go and altogether a higher quality piece

Re: first time 700 build

Nope, didn't know a thing when I started. I did have the wherewithal to educate myself instead of demanding others spoon feed me.

You were given good advice, take it. Acting like an adult will take you much further.

Question about fluting a contoured barrel: I have heard from several sources that fluting a contoured barrel can create imperfections in the metal, thus affecting accuracy. What are your all's thoughts about that? Thanks!
