Looking to build a budget precision ar in223 wild

aero precision m4 enhanced upper with one of their BCG any reason this would not be a good choice

Barrel in the $300.00 price range, so far I have narrowed it to

WOA 18" SPR 1-8 twist

PA/ fluted barrel 18" 1-8 twist

Rainier match SPR 18" 1-8 twist

I shoot my 22-250 at less that .5 MOA and have shot a Heavy barrel 308 at less than 1/2 inch 5 shot groups

I only compete with my self but still looking for accuracy

Thoughts and suggestions appreciated

Dennis

I don't think you can go wrong with WOA. Plenty of people here have had good results with Rainier. I'm guessing you meant BA, Ballistic Advantage? I have some of their barrels but I think if I compare my fluted 16" to my 16" WOA, the White Oak barrel is a little more accurate.

WOA is phenomenal and their complete SPR/DMR uppers are amazing value.
Craddock Precision is another high end one to look at.

for a more budget conscience choice i really like the Wilson combat 5.56 stainless barrels.

I would recommend going cheap on your first one and using it more like a truck gun. Then go for more accuracy with better barrels and parts. I’ve used WOA for their +2 gas length. Made a light 17remington (As light as a 26” barrel will allow) adjusted for real light recoil so I can have quicker follow up shots or multiples on coyotes.

An adult LEGO system just isn’t as fun if you don’t do any mixing and matching

I don't have the money to have more than one of these, and my experience tells me to by right the first time so as not to have to buy twice.

That is why I'm posting here to get as much help as I can. The number of choices is daunting and watching some of the video reviews is a joke.

Are you looking to hammer away / fighting carbine...or more of a DMR style? If you’re trying to build a “fighting” rifle I’d go with a chrome lined CHF barrel 100%. If you’re going the DMR route then look at the stainless WOAs.

on a budget a WOA upper for 675 (BCG, CH included) is hard to beat even when building.

WOA SPR Upper 18"

WOA SPR Upper 16"

If I was to do a buy once, I would step it up from aero. Theres alot of good stuff out there to go with one of the cheapest. you dont have to spend that much more to get a whole lot more/better (opinion). My suggestions are likely out of your price range but theres alot of stuff out there if you look.
RTV's suggestion above sounds like a great option. especially if youre going for accuracy. My experience is complete uppers/rifles usually shoot better/ more reliably than homebrews.

I wouldn’t get the Aero bcg, I love Aero products but their are better bcg’s at a much lower cost, I personally use toolcraft. The barrels you mentioned are fine, but I would personally suggest Faxon, I’ve built 5 ar’s with the heir barrels and couldn’t be happier(and 2 people I built them for) I had one Faxon barrel that had a crown problem causing inaccuracy and they had a new barrel in my hands in 4 days after I just sent a picture, best customer service I’ve run into in some time. All the Faxon barrels I have now are very accurate.

I'm looking to build a very similar build. What would you guys recommend for an optic?

Depends entirely on what you want to do with the rifle not the rifle itself.

Thats why you see people competing in .22lr competitions with nightforce ATACRs even though to most of us that sounds ludicrous.

What you do with the rifle. Not the rifle itself dictates your optic selection.

Custom turned 18” bartlein barrel with seekins bolt head spaced and woa competition barrel extension, slr adj gas block, triggertech trigger, magpul prs stock, bushnell hdmrII glass sitting in a jp flat top mount

Thanks Ya I know now is not a good time to do anything with guns, but now is when I'm starting. Not sure when it will get better.

I don't need a chrome lined barrel, I wont be doing a lot of high speed shooting and I would rather have the better accuracy of a stainless barrel

I have a complete, Aero m4e1. Functions flawlessly. Very well machined in my opinion too. I personally like everything you have. However, again, my opinion. Id stay away from BA barrels. Criterion hybrid barrels are in your price range, and they are very good. Mine will shoot sub MOA. Just on this forum alone, ive seen some nasty groups. Not saying it cant be done consistently with those barrels you have chosen, but to me .5 inch groups seems to be asking alot out of a sub 300 dollar barrel.

I had really wanted the AP enhanced upper, they had dropped production, so I was thinking about their m4 upper. they are selling out within minutes of re stocking and I kept missing.

Based on recommendations I have settled on WOA They had an upper in stock with their hand guard, the barrel will be their PRS 18" fluted and their BCG. Delivery should be in early January

Looking at their reputation I think I will be happy

And as of last knight the AP enhanced uppers are back in production. e mail went out at 5:24 I checked at 6:00 and they were already sold out
