Due to the high prices of .308 factory match ammo (~$35 box) I decided to reload .308 for my rifle (see signature). I have a very simple setup that consist of:

Lee single stage press, Forster dies, Dillon beam scale, Redding powder trickle, Frankford Arsenal digital caliper, Lee hand primer, a cartride tray, funnel, case lube.

The process was FL sizing 1x fired Hornady TAP cases. Wash the deprimed brass in soapy water and let the cases air dry overnight. I primed the cases with Federal 210M primers and weighed Varget to 43.0gr, 43.5gr, 44.0gr, 44.5gr. I seated Sierra Matchking 168gr bullets to an OAL of 2.803".

Best group was with the 43.0gr load 5 shots .550". The POI was 1.75" low. Was previously zeroed dead on with BHA 168gr Match.

Now I am playing with seating depth and am gonna try the 175 SMK's. I had no pressure signs at 44.5gr Varget, so I am hoping there is another accuracy node on the upper end. But I am happy. My goal with this rifle was .5" 5-shot and I am almost there. I learned most of what I needed to reload by reading SH.com. Thanks.

Re: First time loading .308 results

Looks pretty good. Sure is better then paying that much for factory ammo. Mine was up to $44 a box for 308 so reloading was a good idea for me too.

Very nice group. Looks like you're on the right track to meeting your goal. The equipment you have can turn out fine ammo, I would consider adding a case trimmer if funds permit though.
