First time trimming brass-need some advice

I have reloaded quite a bit, but I am now to the point that I am resizing all my once-fired brass. The 25-06 is the first batch I am working with. The brass is Nosler custom. I have resized them and am now considering trimming them, but they vary from 2.475 to 2.480, both of which are below the trim-to length. Should I trim them all to 2.475 so they are uniform or should I allow them to grow until they surpass the trim-to length or until they fit perfectly in my rifle? (I am only using one rifle)

Unless you are crimping the loaded round, I'd leave them alone.

I'm not crimping, but leaving it alone goes against my exacting nature. However, I am happy to yield to the experts....

I dont crimp , micrometer seater dies don't crimp,
do you know the length of your chamber ? if not you can get something like this to find out

what kind of trimmer are you using ?

would i trim ? maybe , it depends. If i was going to neck turn the brass then yes. If your going for accuracy , i would trim them.

yeah I have those for my 308 and 338 but not for the 25-06. I have no idea what the chamber length is.

I am using a Redding trimmer. I am not neck turning. This is an old pre-64 model 70 that was recently re-barreled. I probably shouldn't be worrying about it at all but...

Leave the brass alone. Your variance is tight enough for now. Let it grow, then trim them all when it needs trimming.

I know that only 2 or 3 people here out of many thousands of SH members can shoot the difference, the rest of us can't, use the chamber length gauge to determine your trim length, then set and forget your trimmer based off what the gauge tells you, listening to people on the internet on what trim length to use is retarded.

Confirm this info for each rifle you have. No two rifles will be the same. Get a set of gages a check your rifles. More than likely the brass would never grow enough to not chamber. Now custom chambered rifles are a different story, but factory rifles are typically pretty liberal.

Try trimming a batch of 10 to the same legnth and leave the rest. See if you can tell the differance. If it matters, then keep them uniform. If it doesn't then you will save time in the future.

If I had any doubts,I would just trim them.Its easy enough to do,and you will have to sooner or later anyway.I admit that I probably do more brass prep than is needed,but that is one of the reasons that I handload.I doubt that you will see any difference on your target,either way. Pete

That's what I am going to do. I bought the sinclair gauge for the 25-06 and I'm going to trim them just short of that length. Thanks for everyone's wonderful advice. I appreciate it all.
