Spent part of today fishing with my dad for the first time in 28 years. I hated it as a kid, now it's not so bad to hang out and feed the fish for a morning.

We each managed to catch one, my monster 6" brown was way better than his tiny 5".

Hopefully they grow up for next year.

Little snow on the ground in spots but otherwise the weather was awesome. I think it was the Carson river? Up off hwy 88 east of Kirkwood ca. I didn't have to drive so I didn't pay all that much attention.

Re: Fishing with dad

California has all sorts of great places and every sort of environment you could want.

The only thing that really makes the place suck is the people.

Man that place looks beautiful. Cherish those times with your pops. I would give anything in the world to go fishing or hunting with my dad just one more time.

Re: Fishing with dad

Nice looking Brown. It also looks like Deer Creek outside of Chester/Lake Almanor. Yes, we have some great areas, everything from Alpine tundra to Coniferous Rain Forest to Real Desert. I have to get the kid out and we try to feed the fish, The Salmon are running right now in the Sac.

It's only some of the people and mostly the laws that "those" people have imposed on the rest. There are some great guys, and a few gals, in Kommifornia and I am willing to bet you fall into that category based on your posts here on the Hide.

Beautiful area and regardless of how the fishing was you got to spend time with your dad and that makes it worth it. I wish I had gotten the chance to fish with my dad more before he passed away.

Yea, I'm just painting with a wide brush. Probably need to knock that off or I'll go crazy thinking things are worse than they really are.

Wait, who's reading my posts???

That's why I'm making the effort. Now that I'm getting older I'm starting to see things in a whole new light.
