Flash hider hurting accuracy ?

Hey there does anyone know if a flash hider can hurt your accuracy ? The reason I ask is because I am in the process of having a mk13 mod 2 built and the mod 2 had a vortex flash hider , I was told the ranger regiment that was issued the mod 2s removed most of the flash hiders because they were hurting accuracy. I was curious if this is really a thing ?

Yes, it can affect accuracy.

Hmm interesting do you happen to know what it is that can CSU’s it to affect accuracy ?

Any muzzle device can effect accuracy in one way or another by effecting barrel harmonics, weight, recoil, etc. I actually have some loads that work better with the muzzle brake on and better with it off in the same rifle.

Oh ok I also heard of the device is on too tight that can negatively affect it

I haven’t heard of that. Some factory ones are really cranked on. Unless it begins to cross thread and become crooked.

Yeah I read it can actually tighten the bore if it’s cranked on too hard

^ Distortion is possible. That’s why I only like to use jam nuts and kind of shy away from crush washers. Just a personal preference. Save your steel!
