Currently in the process of piecing together a DPMS platform .308 and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a flash hider. Don't know if there are any that actually lend themselves to increasing accuracy but if there are those would be preferential.

Re: Flash Hider Suggestions

I don't know about any flashiders, but a muzzle brake in a round-a-bout way would somewhat beable to increase accuracy taking a little of the "oomph" out of the recoil, which in turn keeps the shooter on target more, but I think it would only help with the follow through. A .308 doesn't have recoil that is unmanagable, and taming it down even more makes it easier to shoot. IMHO don't spend the money on a flashhider and just buy more ammo, the practice will make YOU more accurate and that will carry over to other firearms and not just having one gun you are good with.

Re: Flash Hider Suggestions

Most muzzle brakes I've seen seem to be fairly large. I'd like to keep weight at a minimum and I know they're probably only a few ounces heavier but ounces equals pounds, and pounds equal pain. The rifle's mainly gonna be used for hunting anyhow, so I wasn't really looking for a 3-gun muzzle brake. I'd pop on a flash hider/suppressor attachment to save money in the long run, but seeing as how I haven't decided which can I want it wouldn't do much good. Thanks for the suggestion though as that's what I'm looking for. I should've been more clear about what I'd be using the rifle for. My mistake.

I vote for the Primary Weapon Systems FSC30. I installed one on my POF 308.

Re: Flash Hider Suggestions

If you are wanting a flash supressor for flash suppression, there is no equal(that I have seen) to the Smith Vortex. It sounds more like you are looking for a compensator or QD can attachment? In that case, I have a Battlecomp BABC on my MWS and love it. Not overly loud, low dust signature, and excellent recoil reduction. If I was concerned about muzzle flash, though, I would be running the Vortex.

Re: Flash Hider Suggestions

AAC's SPR/M4 mount is also VERY successful at getting rid of fireballs, and it also doubles as a QD mount. I have them on both my ARs in hopes of a Future purchase of the suppresor, the smith works very well, but like most "forked" or "pronged" Flash hiders, they tend to ring after each shot, not extremely loud, but it does get annoying after a while, i swapped out my smiths for the AACs for this reason, although the AACs still ring but it's definatley not as much. but to each there own

Re: Flash Hider Suggestions

I swapped out a Noveske KX3 with a Smith Vortex on one of my carbines; I noticed about a 20 fps increase with the Vortex. I only chroned one type of round, and until I chrono a few more I can't say for sure if it was not just the conditions on that day.
Either way, I use Vortex on all of my rifles, their is a slight ringing on my .308, but I am almost always suppressed, so it is not a factor for me.
