With the production of fleece jackets on the market such as TAD's Ranger and Stealth, the Condor, and those styles offered by Arc'Terex and the like, how are they really supposed to fit?
Snug to retain body heat better or looser to allow layering? Personal preference? I don't really like the bound up feeling, but do I loose the benefit of the garments performance?

    Edumacate me...

Slightly loose is better, so the garments can trap air between the layers and keep the air warm. Skin tight is not a good idea, and usually only used for hot weather clothing so that the wicking effect is capitalized on.

    Depends...

If the garment has the ability to cinch at the waist, you can get away with a little extra room. If not, when you go too large you will find your heat escaping.

In outdoor gear I prefer the inner insulation layers form fitting (not necessarily tight) and the outer shells with more room.

Garments don't have to be baggy to retain air. The pile in fleece does that. If you try to retain head in free air inside the clothes, it's great when you are sitting still. As soon as you start moving you just pump that heat out and cause air to circulate through.

Agreed on the tighter fit for the inner garments, but truthfully cannot stand tight fitting clothes when it's hot. Haven't tried the UA hot gear yet, but have several friends that swear by it.
