What is the recommended clearance for a floating barrel between barrel and stock? I have a B&C stock, I assume it is fibre glass, it has about business card or better thickness of clearance and just wondering if that is enough as the gun seems to be sensitive to the front rest I am using at the time, whether bipod or bag or both.

thanks.

(oh, and please no, "throw out the stock comments" as I plan to in the future.

yes, I am starting to think the bipod is flexing the stock a little as I see some marks right at the end of the bipod mount on the barrel channel side. I was thinking about just taking 1/16 or so out of the channel with a cnc program.

You can use a slow drying paint on the barrel channel of the stock. Set the barreled action back in the stock. If there's paint on the barrel you know there is contact and where. Make sure you don't get any on there when placing the barreled action back in or out.
Or
Just go ahead and CNC it out a little bit.
