I am new to this forum . I am looking at trying out prs. I have a savage lpr in 260. I looking for help with a scope. I think what i want is a floating dot with the christmas tree. I have been looking at different reviews and like the athlon etr. I have spoke to althon and was told the 2019 btr will have a floating dot. On some of the reviews , the etr dot was small. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, looking at spending around 2500.00.

Wait until shot if you can and see what vortex and some other release.

2500 will get you a lot of options.

A used kahles 525i skmr3 would be in that range as well as a used Minox ZP5 mr4. Maybe a used Schmidt h59 or tremor 3.

Those three will probably be the top tier for $2500(again, used).

For less than that, honorable mention would be vortex amg.

I've got the current Athlon Cronus BTR with the + , great scope. Floating dot will be nice, but not a deal breaker in my book. The Cronus is a great scope that could well b priced higher and probably will b in coming years as more shooters try them. Folks laugh now, but everyone has to start someplace

Thank you sir . I am not in a hurry .

for what its worth....i sent a gen 1 kahles back for tracking issues on 11/15....swarovski got it 11/19 and it was sent back to Austria for repair.
i had them change the reticle since it was there and was quoted $350...i am the second owner and the warranty card was never filled out and turned in(swarovski checks on the warranty and also checked to see if it had been reported stolen)i got an email friday 12/28 that its done and on the way back i should have it next week...i was charged $356 bucks so as far as im concerned kahles DOES have a life time warranty.

I've been shooting behind Kahles K624i AMR scopes since 2014; bought my first Athlon Cronus early in 2016 & mounted it on a Stiller 2500XR 22RF repeater. Have bought several more of the Cronus scopes since that first one, both pre-BTR & BTR versions. In all honesty, I still like the pre-BTR reticle better than the thinner BTR - it's just more usable when set to lower magnification for movers & etc. I've also got a couple of Ares ETRs & one Midas TAC with the floating dot reticle, and feel the dot's a bit too small to be useful in all but ideal situations. I always thought I wanted another Kahles with the SKMR3 ret, but if that .05 mil dot isn't significantly larger than Athlon's .03 mil dot, I'll stick with my AMRs, even though I don't see them listed as available in the new K525i. Would like the opportunity to do a side-by-side to compare Athlon's floating dot to that of the Kahles.

ive owned 2 scopes with the dot...624i SKMR and a minox and did not like either one because of the dot...when a steel target is shot up and paint gone or on dark targets its very hard to see the dot...my eyes are bad so i have to turn the diopter all the way in which make the reticle as small as it can be but even when i adjust it out the dot is still very small.

if you like the AMR stick with it...IMHO its a much better reticle...i had the AMR installed in the scope i mentioned above and the kahles im running now is the AMR,
