Gunsmithing Flush Cups in a 5R stock

Re: Flush Cups in a 5R stock

Patience is a virtue. Yes, but with more work and difficulty than installation into a solid fill stock. The butstock is hollow and the shell can not properly properly retain the flush cup. You will need to create an epoxy pillar of sorts to allow the flush cup to grab. I have also epoxied alum. pillars into a HSP stock to hold a removable recoil pad and allow adj. LOP.

Re: Flush Cups in a 5R stock

They can be installed, but the skin of a HSP stock is very thin, under the thin skin is foam, the two together IMHO are not strong enough to support the torque of shooting positional with a sling, McM and Manners use a much thicker Gel coat or resin skin and filled with a high strength high density foam.

I ended up drilling a hole in the stock and pouring some epoxy in it then set the flush cup into that. also put a screw though the flush cup just in case.
