Im lookinf for a side are and i came across a bran new fn for $400. The reviews i read was straddeling the fence as far as quality.. some good some bad. Anyone here own one? Any suggestions on a good 40 or 45 cal price rang from 400 to about 650?
I had one in 9mm, and it was a fantastic pistol. Gun ADD got the best of me, and i sold it, but i miss it. Comfortable, reliable, and priced right. i recommend it!
Thanks guys, ive been wanting an fn, because i have an fn rifle and i found this one. I was kust kinda scared because of the reviews. I agree with you on the glock tho thats what ive been carrying, glock 45. Maybe ill throw a couple hundred and get a sig 220
The FN Pistol line overall is somewhat of a hidden gem IMHO. I currently own an FNP45 that was actually my first experience owning a .45 cal handgun and I've thoroughly enjoyed that pistol from its first range trip. Very "shootable" I was quite surprised how accurate it was for me my first time out and it hasn't disappointed since. I've also demoed FNP and FNX 9s and if I weren't so heavily invested in my M&Ps I'd seriously consider one for EDC.
Not sure where you've seen the "mixed" reviews (although I'm sure some can be found, as is the case with pretty-much any firearm). Everything I've seen/read about the FN Pistol line has been overwhelmingly positive, as has my experience.
Great pistol, I own two FN guns and I am always impressed with their designs. I do like the M&P 40 over the FNP but not by very much, and all personal preference issues nothing in regards to function or performance. 400.00 is a good deal.
I have an FNP-9 and have had zero problems with it.
The break in period will have brass flying towards your head (wear a baseball cap,) but after about 300 rounds the recoil spring/black magic will loosen up enough to eject the spent cartridges correctly.
I haven't had a single jam or failure to fire with this weapon and I've put about 1500 rounds down the pipe.
It's a good solid handgun and I recommend it to everyone.

Is that normal for a gun? I had a HK usp that would not cycle 115 gr, and with 124s it was hitting my face. It went back 2 times and I fired at least 400 rounds before I sold it. My Springer TRP and XD have ran fine. I just could not justify keeping a 950 dollar gun that if I needed to use for defense would hit my eyes with hot brass.
Guess I could have kept running rounds but it really sucks when the brass gets caught between your glasses and your face while you have a loaded gun in your hand!
I currently own an FNP45 Tactical and i love it. I guess it will depend on what you want to use it for. I really like the fact that it can be decocked and carried in double action. I haven't ever had an issue with it.
The FNP was replaced by the FNX which is now being replaced by the FNS.
Why would you want to get something 2 generations old? It's not that good of a price.
As far as a 40/45 in that price range, get a S&W M&P. Remember, that's the gun the Belgians picked OVER their own FN pistols as their new service handgun.
I love my 45 tactical but it does have a large grip if you are after a cheap good gun sig 2022 or the original xd pistols are still being made either can be had for 400.00 + or - a few dollars

Not that it matters but I wonder if price point would have anything to do with that decision since both have to be imported from the US, seems S&W has been trying really hard to get a large portion of large contracts for LE and military.
