Looking for some info and user feedback from the fn spr a3g. I am tossing around the idea of selling my LMT MWS for one of these used.

The question I am really concerned about is how is the selection of aftermarket goods for the winchester action? I realize the rem 700 is extremely popular, but what kind of selection does the winchester have in terms of barrels and what not?

Also, the chrome lined barrel has got me a little confused. Everything I have always read says SS shoots better than CL, I realize this may not always be the case. Will I even be able to notice a lack of accuracy with the CL?

Sorry for the newb questions, most of my time is spent on ar's so I have very little bolt action knowledge.

Re: Fn Spr a3g

Winchester's certainly don't have the same variety of aftermarket support as the Remington's, but aside from an AICS chassis, you can get just about everything else a Remmy can have from McMillan stocks to DBM systems. In general, they are great rifles, that shoot very well. Any decent smith can do a Winny barrel, the process is similar to a Remington aside from the extractor groove.

Personally, if I were you, I would skip over the A3g, and go look at the SPR that is in the classifieds here. It's lightly used, but I think I just saw that the price dropped to $1350 shipped which IMHO is a fantastic deal.

Most SPRs will outshoot the nut behind the trigger.

The spr in the classifieds is very tempting, it's what stirred my interest in the FN bolt guns. However, I am still in the intial stages of deciding whether to sell the MWS or not.

Re: Fn Spr a3g

Just need to look at your goal--Are you interested in making small groups of precisely placed holes at 600 to 1000 meters or lots of holes quickly placed at 500 meters in. Once you answer that question, you can't go wrong with either the FN bolt guns or the MWS.
