Gunsmithing FN SPR Barrel Install

Re: FN SPR Barrel Install

The cone is around 48 degrees, to find out exact place the angle of the bolt face against the right side of your compound rest and swivel the compound until the bolt is parralel to your ways. Then start cutting your cone. Cut the tenon to .750-.800 long and after the cone is about 2/3rd of the way to the threads thread your action on the stub w/ the bolt installed. Measure the gap between the action face and the barrel shoulder with the bolt/action screwed snug to the breech. This is your cross slide distance you need to cut + .007" or so. An indicator on the ways against the cross slide works well for this. I just did one of these yesterday in 6X47 Lapua.
