This Rifle has been about two years in the making. I do not have a scope yet, but have decided it will be a USO SN3. I am not sure if it will be the 1.8-10 or 3.2-17, but I can't afford it right now anway so I have a little time to decide.

Below is my previous post about the Manners Stock:

http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthre...151#Post1651151

The complete rifle came in today and I must say it is everything I had planned for and more. The rifle has a Bartlein 1-11, 5-R S.S. #14 20" Fluted Barrel. Greg Tannel did all of the work on the FN .308 action which I purchased from CDNN. He rebuilt it Single Point Action and bolt, double sleeved the bolt body, bushed the firing pin hole, chambered, threaded, and crowned the barrel. He cut the chaber with a Lapua .308 reamer with a 0.340 nk with a 0.047fb and polished it.

I kept the stock trigger as I like Win triggers but he polished and set the sears at 2.0 lbs, index fluted the barrel, epoxy bedded the barreled action, cut the extractor, opened the thread tenon to 1.062 x 16 tpi, lapped the lugs, turned the firing pin, and opened the mag well for the CDI bottom metal.

He then threaded the muzzle 5/8 x 24 tpi for suppresor, made and knurled the thread protector, cera coated all of it graphite black, threaded the bolt handle for the Badger knob (he had to build the jig) and epoxy mounted the scope base.

I think after he did all of that he parted the red sea and turned water in to wine, but I might be stretching it there:)

I am in on the Redding Group buy and am waiting on my Competition dies and case trimmer. I have the Lapua Brass and Berger 155VLD's as well as Varget Powder to start loading for it. I am attaching quite a few pictures which just don't do the rifle justice. It really is a work of art, and I am going to shoot it to death. This is my first custom precision rifle and I must say it is now the nicest rifle I own. Hope you like it.

Greg and Debbie are great people and were very patient with me. I would strongly recommend Greg's work to anyone who is in the market for a build. I have been on this site for a few years now. I don't post much, but I read almost everything. I have listened to everything and developed this rifle based on what I have learned from all of you. Reminds me of the quote " this is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine etc....."

Re: FN SPR/Bartlein/Manners Gre'-Tan Build Complete

Very nice. I just did one of those receivers into a deer killin rig....6.5Creedmoor Lilja 28in bbl, black duracoat action/bbl, and the $99 Hogue stock CDNN had in GAP duracoat camo. Way more accurate than a deer rifle needs to be, but I aint got that much in it and if I want to use it from something else, I can. Fun builds, huh?!

Re: FN SPR/Bartlein/Manners Gre'-Tan Build Complete

I'm fucking green with envy!! I'd love to have a custom wearing a T3 and 20" (or maybe 18") tube.

Send it to me and I'll put some glass on her and figure out what load she likes. shouldn't be more than a few years and few thousand rds of load development and I'll get her back to ya

Re: FN SPR/Bartlein/Manners Gre'-Tan Build Complete

Have a SPR A5 with a USO 3.2-17 myself. Very happy with it so far. Thought I might swap barrels but the factory one has managed to hold its own very well. All I have to do is steal it back from JRose so I can play with it again.

Scout 1977, I don't know how I managed to never find this rifle in all of my research. That looks great, and yes I do like the T3.

Re: FN SPR/Bartlein/Manners Gre'-Tan Build Complete

Will post a pic of my SPR tonight with an USO 1.8-10 37mm to give you an idea.

Scope is mounted in Seekins Low rings.

Re: FN SPR/Bartlein/Manners Gre'-Tan Build Complete

cjgemm I would really appreciate that thanks. Could you also post what ring height you have, and I assume that you have the factory SPR barrel?

Re: FN SPR/Bartlein/Manners Gre'-Tan Build Complete

Congrats on the new rifle.

Greg has built two previous rifles for me and I have a third on the way that should be delivered shortly.

My experience has been the same as yours: Greg is a top notch gunsmith and excels at customer service...

If you were to have to buy the scope again would you purchase the 1.8-10 37mm or step up to the 3.2-17. Also curious if you were to buy the 1.8-10 would you change the objective to the 44mm? Thanks for the help and that is a great looking rifle.

Would you mind posting a picture of the A5 with the USO 3.2-17 on it?

Re: FN SPR/Bartlein/Manners Gre'-Tan Build Complete

Depends on what your doing with the rifle. For my purposes the 1.8-10 was Ideal. I had a 1.8-10 44mm and can't honestly tell you I saw a major difference between the two.

For comparison purposes here's a Savage LA with a 22" Savage Varmint contour barrel.

No problem. As soon as I get it back ill stick a couple pics on here. Scope is coated and rifle isn't yet so I was going to wait till she was done. But all snap a couple as is.
