I just took the stock off my fnh short action 300wsm as it is sold to someone. There is only two screws holding the stock and bottom metal but, the action seems to have three holes. My 300 win mag post 64 has three holes and three screws to hold all of the bottom metal in place which is two peices. I bought a extended box mag from wyatt for the 300 win mag. I never could get them to tell me how to install so I have not yet but it looks to me like they want you to modify part of the action where the middle bolt hole is. Are you supossed to run two screws or three?

The Model 70's traditionally have(had) two piece bottom metal, which required three screws.

One action screw at the rear of the triggerguard and one at the front. Yet another holding on the hinged floorplate just behind the recoil lug.

You'll run two screws with a one piece bottom metal.

Last I looked, the instructions for fitting their magazine boxes were on their website.

Yes, the receiver, bolt stop, and ejector must be altered to use the extended box if it's the controlled round feed. If it's a push feed Win., the receiver and bolt stop need to be modified. The island of metal on the receiver where the center guard screw fits into, will need to be machined back to allow for the extra length of box. I will normally then make a small nut and screw to use to hold down the front of the trigger guard. If using a one piece trigger guard assembly, this step can be omitted. Next you will need to alter the bolt stop to allow the bolt face to get behind the base of the cartridge. The last item is the ejector, it must be altered so it will not intefere with the feeding. On my personal rifle, I also extended the ejection port back .250" to allow for a more positive ejection. Kevin
