Don't you know, you dont practice drawing form the holster with live ammo... You wait until its an emergency and practice it for the first time trial by fire...
I'm pretty sure he's coming from the "gaming" aspect of fast-draw. Some context is important. When going for uber-fast draws in the context of cowboy-action shooting... it is important to not use live rounds. MANY people have been injured in that sport as a result of trying it with live ammo. Good friend of mine is big into it, and it's completely different than the context of defensive concealed carry. It's not like he's wearing a crossbreed or safariland with ALS on his thigh.

I am talking about pushing for draw and first shot times of less than 1 second as well - by index / rotate to level and fire just as it clears the leather / from the high #2 / snicking the safety on the mount - whole bit. Either you can or you can't. Only one way to find out….. It is like shooting from inside a vehicle - your going to sweep yourself and there is no getting around it, it gets 'funner' with passengers too. If the chops are grooved you can focus on other matters. There is a safe way to build up to that, but simply say 'never' is….Fuddish
